My LLMD suggested that I try Pekana detox and drainage drops (Hepat, Itires, and Renelix) this month.
So I got the kit but the instructions are not very specific. The bottles say to take 15-20 drops 3x per day. Can I take them all together in a cup of water? Does it matter if I take them with or away from food? Can I take antibiotics or other supplements at the same time?
Is anyone willing to share their experiences with this detox kit? My doctor didn't really tell me what to expect. He just said to try it for a month and stop if I did not see any improvement. I'm hoping it helps.
Also, for those of you who have tried these drops, did you experience any new symptoms as your body began to detox?
Thanks so much Posted by Hoosiers51 (Member # 15759) on :
I don't think I experienced too much from them. My LLMD told me to just do 1/2 tsp twice daily. But I would work your way up in case you react to them.
I was taking lots of herbs and antibiotics, etc, too.
I have heard about hoemopathy, that it works best taken away from other things, and especially best if you don't take anything after you take it (even a sip of water)....depending on how strict you want to get with that. Because it sort of "sets" your body, and even adding water to that right afterwards is not the greatest.
Also, avoid minty things, like mint toothpaste.
Some people may not follow those rules, but alternative-med practitioners have told me that about homeopathy. If it applies to all homeopathics, I dunno.
I would do mine very last thing before bed. Sometimes I didn't get two doses in per day. I would just take it on a spoon, plugging my nose while I swallowed it. You will get used to the taste, I did at least.
I would space it away from food if possible, but if you can't, just eat beforehand, not after you take them. These rules aren't so much because it is dangerous, but it's just about getting them to work better. If it really matters, I dunno...

I'd like to know, too. I have the same kit, but haven't tried it.

Best is no water, use pure drops under the tongue, let them there for a moment before swallowing, away from everything else (including brushing teeth), at least 10 min before and after.
Work the drops up slowly (safer).
You can just succuss the bottles before (about 10-20 times) in case you feel the effect is not strong enough (hit against your palm). That makes the potency 'rise' a bit.
I have other products from Pekana (about 5 other products) but was not very impressed by them.
The only one I like is Mucan, that deals with toxicity of Mucor racemosus and Candida infections.
I love Heel detox products though (Solidago comp, Lymphomyosot, Hepar comp, Galium comp, Ubichinon comp, coenzmye comp...).

I've been using Pekana for several years. As Selma said, take away from brushing the teeth. I've been told 15 minutes before or after and make sure no traces of toothpaste is left in the mouth. Also, as hoosiers said, avoid mint. Menthol too from what I remember.
http://www.pgosch.com/guide.html Patients should take PEKANA medications at least one hour before or after eating. When using more than one preparation, patients ideally should allow at least 15 minutes between dosages, but may combine medications for convenience and to ensure compliance.
PEKANA medications should not come into contact with metal spoons or cups.
I take mine directly from the bottle under the tongue. For the syrups, I use a glass cup rather than a metal spoon.
The drainage remedies that I initially started with are called gemmotherapy. These were a German brand but they are very hard to get and my LLMD recommended Pekana so I've been using them for quite awhile.
The German brand gemmotherapy caused a lot of symptoms initially but that calmed down after the first month. I find the Pekana remedies are more gentle however I do know someone who had a strong reaction to them so as others have said, start slow.
Selma - I have used lymphmyosot and I think that is a good product. I'm glad you mentioned the others, I'll take a look at those.
I'm sorry to hear that you weren't impressed with the Pekana remedies. My LLMD recently recommended Toxex from Pekana. Said it was one of the best for detox.
I see that some new gemmotherapy lines have been coming out. I may give some of them a try just to mix things up a bit.

Pekana remedies are magical. I personally think that almost everyone with Lyme should be using apo-Hepat, Itires, and Renelix for basic organ support. The Heel products are also very good. One or the other is foundational.

I haven't started them yet either but the instructions from my doc were to take 15 drops of each in water WITH food.
How weird there is so much disparity in how these are used.

Do these products cost lots and lots of money? Posted by Looking (Member # 13600) on :
I found a site that lists the prices (I have no connection to this site).
The detox kit contains 3 items so it works out to $20.00 each. The price of other items varies.
The Pekana products are typically sold only through practioners (Naturopathic Doctors and MD's).
I buy from the site that Looking posted. It is run by 2 Naturopathic Doctors. I have no financial relationship to the site other than I buy their products.
They are very nice and helpful people and their prices are the best that I could find. You get free shipping on orders over $100.
If you buy from them, you must consult with them the first time you buy but that is free. The woman ND knows about Lyme disease and is very kind.
The price spent on the Pekana remedies has been worth it for me. My LLMD recommended Pekana remedies when we got some test results that showed that my cells were full of debri. Apparently we were killing lots of bugs but I wasn't able to get the debri out of my cells.
I think our cell walls get damaged and this is partly why I have this problem. I haven't got it all worked out yet so I'd better not expound too much on my theory because it could be wrong. LOL
btm - Homeopathic medications are taken away from food. Do a search on google by typing in "pekana food". You will see that it is recommended that these products be taken away from food. I would ask my doctor why he wants me to take it with food. Maybe he has a reason or perhaps he doesn't know about homeopathics??

Thank you all!
I had no idea that there were so many rules to follow when taking homeopathic drops. So glad that I asked because I want to take them properly. Thank you all for teaching me
If anyone else has tried the Pekana detox and drainage kit I'd love to hear about more of your experiences too.

Thx Terry, I hear 'ya but I think I will try my first dose of the Pekana today with food the way my LLMD instructed and will report on the good/bad/ugly... Posted by sammy (Member # 13952) on :
I've been taking the Pekana drops, following all your instructions, for the last 6-7days.
I did not ramp up slowly because I had already started on the full dose the day that I posted my question. Had a headache on the first day but that seems to be the only negative response so far. Probably could have avoided that if I started at a slower pace.
Still waiting and watching for positive effects. I hope that they are at least helping in some small way even if I don't feel anything different.

The bottles say they contain alcohol...what the heck????
Posted by ott70 (Member # 18237) on :
Alcohol is a perservative. A lot of holistic formulas use alcohol versus perservatives that naturalists would consider toxic.
Unfortunately, some people can't take alcohol. There are some companies that offer non-alcoholic formulas, but alcohol is probably the cheapest and easiest thing to use.
Posted by pamoisondelune (Member # 11846) on :
To remove the alcohol : pour boiling water into a little glass or cup. Then add the extract drops. Wait 12 or 15 minutes. It evaporates.
Actually i don't know for sure how long to wait. Hopefully someone knows how long?
Another way is to simmer the drops gently for 5 minutes, that's what Stephen Buhner recommends, i'm told, second-hand, in his comment on planetthrive.com.
PS I didn't realize this thread is about homeopathics, about which i know nothing. I was telling how to get the alcohol out of extracts.
