I promise I will get the hang of all this eventually, but for now I am still a little confused.
Can I take probiotic same time as supplements? Can I take olive leaf extract same time as supplements? Do I need to seperate dosage of probiotic & olive leaf extract? I take one dose of probiotic 3 hours after evening abx but need to add another dose.
Thanks so much, Jen

I take probiotic either first thing in the morning, at least 30 min before breakfast OR at night just before bed. Night works better if it's been a while since I've eaten.
I don't know if you can take it with supps, etc. I take it with Artiminisin frequently, since they both need to be separate from food.

I've been taking mine all wrong. Used to take one 1/2 hr before dinner and squeeze the other dose in during the day but now will change to early afternoon and before bedtime...away from abx and supplements.

Probiotics should be taken a short while after a meal. The beneficial bacterial need something to grab on to, such as food.
Never take a probiotic with anything that kills, such as, artemesia, grapefruit seed extract, ABX, Olive leaf extract, garlic, oil of oregano as it will kill the probiotics, too.
You can take it with other supplements that don't kill such as ALA or turmeric but it's best to take it alone shortly after a meal, unless the directions on the bottle state otherwise.

I take mine first thing in the morning with just a few spoons of yogurt. Somehow it seems like it soothes my stomach if I do it with a little yogurt. I don't eat for an hour after.
I take my supplements at lunch and my antibiotics at dinner. I am fortunate to be able to take antibiotics just once a day at this time. Sometimes that changes and you just have to adjust.
In that case I will take my antibiotics at breakfast and dinner and throw the probiotics in sometimes during the day at least 2 hours away from the antibiotics. Supplements at lunch.

I didn't know about taking art with probiotics. Thanks abxnomore. I'll avoid that from now on.
Also didn't know about taking after meals. I thought probiotics were to be taken on an empty stomach.

Many, many, many years ago when I was first getting into alternative medicine I was told to take probiotics on an empty stomach.
Some doctors still advise that but more current thinking is to take them after a meal because they need food to latch onto.
Like every thing else, there will always be different schools of thought.

Another good reason for taking the probiotics after a meal is that the ph-value is more alkaline then. If the stomach is too acid (like an empty stomach) it will only destroy the probiotics.

So, do most only take probiotics once daily? That's what I have been doing but thought it wasn't enough.

If you are on ABX I would take it at least 2X a day if not 3. You can never get enough probiotics,
especially if you are on ABX and taking too much can't hurt....only your pocketbook!

Our llmd said to take our probiotic - Theralac at bedtime.
He did not mention anything about meals or abx, and I didn't think to ask.
Good luck.

lots of good advice here and i agree that you should replenish often because you can never get enough while antibiotics is killing our good flora on a daily basis.
always read the label for when to take, most say between meals.
do take at bedtime and during the day (by itself without other supplements) and at least 2-3 hours away from any antibiotics, otherwise the live cultures will be destroyed.
