I don't know if I'm just getting tired of taking my meds or what's going on.

Last night, right before I had to take my rifampin, I just started feeling so down and didn't want to take my meds.

It felt like a depression, like why do I have to keep doing this? Is it even helping?

I just wanted to forget it and toss the rest of my prescription.

What's going on? Has anyone else ever felt like this?

Yes! Because I also question, is it doing any good. I know I am better than I was 14 months ago, but still very ill. I expected to be at least 70% better or more in a year.

Starfall,
I understand where you are at. In the next couple weeks I am going to need to make a decision whether to stop antibiotics and pursue alternative treatment. Have not yet decided.

My only concern is if the side effects of antibiotics is the risk I want to take. For example, recently learned that some abx can cause intercranial pressure which can effect vision (Example: Doxy).

Not sure what to do. Praying for wisdom. I want to be well.

The IDSA certainly agrees with you, if you saw any of their presenters on the webcast today.

However, Its a risk vs benefit though that each person must have the right evaluate on their own, with the aid of a medical professional.

losferwrds-
Yes I saw some of their presenters -- in truth I had to turn them off because my heart just felt like crying -- I am glad my hope in life is not in them. For some of them, it seems their hearts are not open to the truth or touched by those suffering.

Your right -- it is a decision each has to make on his/her own, and it is a very hard decision to make. Still taking my meds until a decision is made.

I get like that. I haven't been taking my supplements because of it and I'm suffering for it. I just got so tired of being sick, and the pills are a constant reminder.

But now I feel worse than ever, so I'll start swallowing all of my pills again.

Depression like that is a symptom of Lyme. There are also some things you can do to relieve depression. It might just help to think about it as a symptom rather than a life condition ("it's not me being hopeless, it's the bugs speaking"). It does lift after a while.

I think there is some problem with stopping and starting rifampin, but for all of my other meds, when I have started to notice depression, I've just stopped the med for a few days and then re-started. My mood was always better and the weird personality changes would go away. I've heard that this is a really common effect for babesia treatment meds and probably Lyme too- stopping temporarily may help if you're having such a psychological 'down' symptom.
