I have been on doxy for two and a half weeks now and have seen some improvement in my neuro symtpoms and my fatigue has lessened some.

However, I have developed a dull ache on my left side where the ovaries are. Recently had my annual check up and all was fine according to my gyn.

Anyone else have this as a lyme symptom? I've heard that pelvic pain can be attributed to lyme and Bartonella - does this ring true to you guys here?

I don't get in to see my LLMD till Sept. 1st. My doxy runs out in 3 days and I don't have a prayer of getting anymore from my primary care doctor. Hoping I don't spiral back downward off the doxy. And just looking for some answers about the pelvic pain.

Thanks in advance for any info!

Pelvic pain is very common in lymies.

You may have ovarian cysts. I have them off and on all the time. Again, lymies get them often. I have gotten them since I was 17 years old and I am now 37....

Supposedly cutting down on sugary foods and modifying your diet to more protein and vegetables will help. That is not a quick fix though.

Thanks,
Shalome

I have pelvic pain that is related to lyme - probably bartonella according to LLMD.

I see a physical therapist for internal pelvic floor work and this has helped somewhat.

I also have a history of ovarian cysts, but have had this pain when none are present.

My pelvic pain really came on worse right after I started treatment for lyme last year with doxy.

I have not treated for bartonella yet so I can't say if that will help.

I too have had pain in my lower left abdominal area. Now, I don't have ovaries, so I don't really know where that pain would be.

However, last year the pain, though dull, was prominent and persistent enough to cause me to wonder if I pulled a muscle or had a hernia. This went away after abx.

I still get that pain during flare ups.

I had similar pain, though probably worse, many years ago during what I believe was my first infection with lyme. I thought it was acute apendicitis. It eventually went away on it's own.

Good luck,
James

aimee, is this your 1st llmd visit?

anyone else who can order MORE antibiotics for you?
you need 3 months at least at beginning ... 2 months showing no symptoms before discontinuing!

I too have abdominal pain. It is in the lower right side of my abdomen. I have been tested every which way from Sunday to no avail. It hurts worse when I set. The area is only about as big as a quarter but it hurts fairly badly. Good luck.

My pelvic pain was actually caused by my pelvis being out of alignment. It aches really bad when it happens.

Thank you all for your replies - it is so nice to know I can come here and ask a question and get some feedback as I am still learning alot about Lyme.

bettyg - you are always so good to respond - thank you!

Nice to know that the pelvic pain could be from the Lyme - guess I will likely have to rule out other causes just to be sure - maybe when I meet with my LLMD.

But in the meantime just to hear others have had similar issues eases my mind. All of my other strange and mysterious symptoms have been from Lyme and nothing else so I am thinking this is too.

Now to get through the next month with not antibiotics without going downhill again. Can't wait for my appt. in Sept.

Thanks again, Aimee

the majority of my symptoms are in my pelvis.

Opus- like you my pelvic pain took off when i was on doxy :-/ I also goto physical therapy for internal pelvic floor work which does help.

Aniek- same here if mine is out of alignement my lower right(back) upper part of the pelvis will hurt me.

Aimee- if all checked out with the gyn...did you get an ultra sound....if that was neg...might possibly be the hip flexor muscle causing you some problems.
