I'm embarrassed that I don't even know this info but I was SO sick by the time I got to Dr. R. that I went straight to picc-line.

I have a strong suspicion my Uncle has had it for years but I must "play dumb" and assume it's his first bite.

The rash is a huge softball size bullseye on his thigh. He's got bloodshot eyes, couldn't sleep last night, flu-like symptoms, chills, etc.

He lives in ME and the doc prescribed 100mg doxy 2X a day and my gut tells me it's 250 2X a day but for how long? I'm guessing 8 weeks?

You all know the drill...I only know chronic treatment...please enlightenment me with first stages.

I tried Dr. Burrascano's Guideline Treatments but I can't fine any laymen terminology or answers for a "first time bite".

Bless you all, as usual! XOXO

I thought it was recommended at 400mg (200mg twice daily)

For at least 6 weeks to 3 months.

He may herx big time if he has already been infected.

May need to consult a LLMD for him to follow him.

Hugs,

Geneal

Thanks, Geneal. I definitely think 100 2X a day is WAY too low, even if it IS his first bite. I think your doseage sounds about right.

I appreciate your feedback and hope you are well.

Dose is 100-300 mg twice a day, so total 200-600mg per day. Sometimes 100 twice a day is fine/ depends on weight and how long they have gone undiagnosed...
I have that one burned into my memory from Singletons book as many get on 100 only once a day and I correct them! Of course the higher the better chance of killing those bugs...
Best of luck

ask that someone take photos at different angles of his rash using coins or $1 bill to show size with TODAY'S dated newspaper in it clearly visible; might be needed later on. [Smile] hugs
