So my neurologist decided to diagnose me with Fibromyalgia even though I have a positive Igenex test for Lyme...
Ignorant...
Anywho though he has put me on Gabapentin.
Does anyone know anything about it?
Its an anti-seizure pain med. Im just wondering if i should try it out.
My main issues are Joint/Muscle pain, Nerve pain throughout body, Blackouts, & Fatigue just to name a few.
Any info before I go on it?

It should help with the pain, esp nerve pain, but NOT the fatigue! So choose your poison!
I hope you'll be able to move on to an LLMD??? Neuros are so lame.

If you have a positive test from Igenex you need to
see an LLMD URGENTLY. This is not an illness to play around with or waste precious time.

I was on this while being treated for lyme due to severe peripheral neuropathy pain. I would have chewed and swallowed bricks to diminish the pain I was in. It was prescribed by the neurologist that dx'd the neuropathy. He knew and was on board with the lyme diagnosis.
It did help the pain. However, it was, in my opinion, a really difficult drug. It made me crazy. I had to take it on schedule or look out.
It took a long time to wean myself off of it, which was 5 years ago. It took almost 6 months.
I may have had an unusual reaction (or dependency) to it, so please do not let this sway you. Just know that there may be an issue with stopping the med.

I was on gabapentin for neuropathy. Unfortunatly, it made me a little too loopy. I was only taking it at night, but in the morning I was very uncoordinated--kind of felt drunk!
It really did help with the pain, though.
On the other hand, my mother, who is very sensitive to all medication, took gabapentin successfully (no side effects) for neuropathy caused by post-polio syndrome.
And another friend I have found gabapentin incredibly helpful and plans to start taking it again after she's done nursing her baby.
So I'd say try it. See how you do.

I never took gabapentin, but my fibromyalgia turned out to be Lyme. So I think you would most benefit from going to an LLMD. When I started on my antibiotic, I started feeling better.
