What kind of drug is this?

Do you have to get this from a compounding pharmacy?

I have taken levoxyl and cytomel for the last several years with good results. The pharmacy last month switch my cytomel to a generic. TSH went from .2 to 54 and i have gained over 30 lbs. I am swollen everywhere. My doc is trying to get approval for brand. I have since quit taking it. Obviously not the same fillers or bio-availability.
All cytomel is not created equal. Make sure you keep an eye on what is being dispensed.

I've been taking cytomel about 8 years post thyroid removal. In my experience, it seems lyme can muck up the normal T4 to T3 conversion, hence the need for cytomel.

Lou, There is only one compoundidng pharmacy that makes the sustained release form of cytomel, and it is somewhere in Colorado.
I have read others posts about the regular cytomel, but have never seen anyone comment about the SR form.
