My daughter just started rifampin along with biaxin and plaq (she was on these two for three weeks before the rifampin) and I have noticed very moody, very irritable. Is this a herx or a side affect of rifampin, I am somewhat worried, been on it about a week. She has neuro lyme and don't want to mess with the head.

My daughter had a few rages after starting Rifampin. We thought it was a herx and took her off from it for a few days. Her raging stopped.
Then we started her at a lower dose and she got a little irritable again, but not to the same extent.
She sees a LL psychiatrist and he put her on Depakote to help her get to the therapeutic dose of Rifampin as well as try to help her headaches.
She is now taking the original dose with no problems so far.
She did have a tendency to rage at times in the past, so we are thinking it was a herx. It is hard to know for sure, though.
