My son was treated for 28 days for lyme on oral cefrin 5ml 2x per day. His teasts all came back positive and his western blot was a 6.25. He is slowly getting back some flu like symptoms he had to begin with when this all started.I took him back to the pedi and they said the lyme should be all set and this must be a viral infection. He is not eating and has lost 5 pds and only weighted 42 pds to begin with, what should I do. More antibiotics? Any help would be appreciated.

You son was not treated long enough and is relapsing.

He needs to see a doctor who follows the ILADS guidelines. www.ilads.org.

Your current doctor is following the IDSA guidelines, which are flawed and do not adequately treat lyme. Please take your son to a an ILADS doctor as soon as possible. Don't waste any time. It is not viral.

Wasting time could will result in a case of lyme that will become very difficult to treat.

You can place a post in the "seeking a doctor" section for an ILADS or lyme literate medical doctor (LLMD) in your state but I am sure some in

this section who live in your state and have a child with Lyme will private message you with a LLMD's name who treats children. I will send you some information, as well.

Find a LLMD as soon as possible. A regular MD does not know how to treat LD nor do they believe in Chronic LD.

Your son definetly needs more antibiotics if he is still having symptoms.

I agree. All my symptoms seem to be running in reverse as you describe. Seek a LLMD asap.

Abxnomore - your post says take him to IDSA doc. You might want to correct that typo.

Do you know if this was a recent tickbite? It will make a difference probably in the length of time for treatment.

Also, get a copy of the test results, if you don't already have them. Not sure what you mean by WB was 6.5. This does not sound like WB results as they usually show bands.
