I'm soooo tired. I don't know if it's a side effect or herx. I'm taking amox with probenecid and it is making me so fatigued I can't function.
Can a herx last this long?

How long has it lasted?
I found amoxy/probenecid to be a tough, but good combo.

Hi Sofi,
When I started antibiotics 6 mo ago, I also became extremely fatigued....like I had the flu.
I didn't feel like going out of the house or doing anything, which was odd for me.
It lasted about 5 weeks, then lifted.
Everyone is different though....so it's hard to say how long it will last.
I understand what you are going through. It will get better. Hang in there.

I started amoxy just over a week ago.
I got fatigue with Zithro too but it seemed to lift sooner.
It feels like the amox/probenecid combo is hitting me a lot harder than the doxy/zithro combo did.

For all the months I was on Amox, I was profoundly fatigued. I had to will myself to even walk out to the mailbox. And I work, so you can imagine the problems. I had to get into bed right after dinner because trying to function during the day was horrible.
My two LLMDs had not heard of Amox causing fatigue so they thought it was just an individual reaction of mine. However, one LLMD and several patients said that Amox really can produce a lot of yeast so maybe that was happening, too.
However, the minute I went off Amox, the fatigue lifted, so it was definitely the drug for me.
I got the same profound fatigue from Zith (taken many months later, not with Amox)
And none of it even compares with the bedridden-type fatigue I'm now experiencing with Malarone!
Yet other antibiotics don't make me consistently fatigued. Doxy and Bicillin didn't. So I don't get it.
