My LLMD is starting me on flagyl. I have always supplemented with vitamin C. Haven't had a cold or flu in years. He told me not to take Vitamin C while taking flagyl. Is this direction consistent with what you guys out there understand? We are entering the season and I don't want to get sick from a virus. I would appreciate any feed back. Thanks.

I take Tindamax (cousin of Flagyl) and was never told that ... but it has been a few years since I saw an LLMD; local doc gives me the Rx now. Hope you hear more soon!

Jeff, I was never told that either about Flagyl & Vit C, but I would be interested to hear any comments that come about from your post.
The reason being, I just added Vit C back into my regiment to help my constipation (sorry about the TMI)and I feel a bit...fatigued after adding it back in. Your post came at a perfect time.
As far as I know, there aren't any supplements that interfere with Flagyl -- anyone hear different??
Thanks

I am on flagyl and i.v. clindamycin. I had told my LLMD that I take a multivitamin daily and he advised to only take it once a week. He said the lyme likes to feed on vitamin B.

I am currently taking Miracle Mineral at bedtime with Flagyl. When I wake up I am taking a vitamin/mineral drink. I have never felt this good. Maybe waiting all night before taking the drink in the morning is o.k.? My LLMD hasn't said anything, though I go to see him in a few weeks. At this point, I just try to go on how I feel Posted by ping (Member # 6974) on :
Never heard of such a thing. Best avenue to find out is to call your pharmacist and ask directly about VitC contraindications.

To everyone out there following this vitamin c vs. flagyl discussion. I searched the archives. There was one clinical group study done that showed some compromise to flagyl effectiveness from vitamin c and e. But if I interpret the data correctly, the effects were not overwhelming. Anyone else out there with an opinion. Thanks.

Thanks for digging up that info Jeff.
I have never hear that one should not take Vitamin C with Flagyl or Tindamax, either.
As to B vitamins they protect your nerve endings the very thing the spirochetes go after. It think it's very important to take a high dose B complex with Lyme and it's also in Dr. B's guidelines listed as required.
