i have had it with these sinuses. they are constantly blocked and i'm short of breath because i can't get any air in my nose.
i have to breathe through my mouth.
last night i woke up and thought i was choking. i literally was so clogged up i couldn't breathe. i sat up gasping for air and my nose was completely blocked.
it's been this way for months and months. nothing seems to help.
guess i'll make an appt with the ent but it may be a waste.
does anybody else have this? i will say that mike has been complaining too, but his is recent and mine has been about six months or longer.
oh yeah, headache too, sore face, etc., but with all the stuff i've been on surely i couldn't have sinus infections.

Sinus problems can be caused by fungus, as well. Given that you are on ABX one wonders if you need another ABX, but going to and ENT won't hurt but may well be a waste of time.
Have you tried a netti pot? It's a way to wash out the sinus cavity and works well. If you try one, don't use table salt as it's not pure but has additives in it. http://www.healingdaily.com/exercise/neti-pot.htm
Do you have a lot of muscle tightness in your head and neck? If you do, an osteopath that does manual cranial work can be of enormous help.

Randi,
I have had severe sinus issues for a long time!! I got sinus infections all the time. Plus, allergies would set the sinuses off.
The things I have done to help were....
1. I tried a remedy I read about before I knew I had lyme. It was half a lemon in tap water 1 hour before eating/drinking anything else. It cleared the mucous up a lot. (Now my thyroid meds, I can't do that anymore. 2. Also, my infections were fungual. 3-4 months with diflucan helped me a lot, no sinus infections anymore. 3. My ENT gave me RadioFrequency...minor surgery. They heat the tissues in your nose and it stops the allergies from making the tissues swell. 4. I take 1,000 mg of guifenesiun everyday too keep the mucous away. These things helped me a lot.
My eyes still burn, so I think that is something else, but I hope some of this helps.
Good luck!!

Take Serrapeptase.
This thins mucous, reduces fibrin and biofilm, and reduces inflammation and swelling.
Research has shown that it clears up chronic sinus infections.
quote: For those of you suffering from chronic sinusitis, we've finally found something that works, and works quite well.
In double blind studies and laboratory analyses, it's been discovered that serrapeptase just thins mucus and opens sinuses.
Its not going to work overnight. You will have to take the serrapeptase religiously for two weeks to a month.
In the double blind studies, they realized a 97.3% success rate in the serrapeptase group as compared to a 21.9% in the placebo group.
where can i find some?

I second the netti pot recommendation. It will help flush the sinuses out and decrease inflammation. Takes some practice to get used to using it.
You could also try combining Sudafed and Mucinex. This combination should help thin and drain the mucus from your sinuses.
If you do have a sinus infection it is most likely fungal. A visit to the ENT might be helpful if your OTC efforts are not working.

You can buy a netti pot and the saline solution at most stores like Walmart or pharmacies like CVS or Walgreens.

Vitamin shoppe carries them, too. It might be an inexpensive way to keep your nasal passages cleared out anf moisturized.
The salt helps kill off pathogens in the nasal canal.

i have to sleep with a hepa filter almost blowing in my face for the sinuses a cheap one from walmart works great
also magnesium oil on the neck opens sinuses and actually enemas keep things moving everywhere
and maybe some cranial sacral therapy treatments you might have something jammed in the back of the head that effects sinuses and also lymph drainage

Sinus Infection Queen Here
It's most likely fungal. I was formerly under the care of an ENT and Allergist and both could not figure out why I kept getting 'sinus infections'. Going on Diflucan for an extended perioed cleared me up to a point I've been released from their care for several years now.
Are you still on Diflucan and staying on an anti-yeast diet? I thought I recalled you had other issues indicating yeast as well.
Xlear (saline made with Xylitol) twice a day will help huge. You can find it many stores now or just google.

no, i'm not on diflucan anymore.
i had thrush pretty bad tho and still have two bottles of nystatin leftover.
maybe i should just start using that again.
i just back from vitamin shoppe and bought a bottle of serrapeptase. it says three capsules three times a day. can't hurt.
it's not infection cause i don't any any yellow or green mucous and before when i've had one, i always get that. in fact, no drainage at all.

Fungal overload different than a bacterial infection. Makes sense given you had thrush. You should let your LLMD know about this.
And candida will also make your more susceptible to allergies, or develop new ones you never had before.

Look into NeilMed Sinus Rinse. It comes with a plastic bottle and little packets of a buffered saline powder that you mix with distilled water to make a solution.
It is similar to a Neti pot concept.
I was skeptical of it at first as I had never irrigated my sinuses before. It is a really weird feeling but once you get used to it, it does do lots of good. It cleans everything out.

This is very interesting. I have hardly ever had allergies before and this year its been absolutley horrendous. Being treated for lyme, bart, babs so a whole pile of meds. After sneezing so much I have made my chest and diaphragm so sore I did start to wonder if lyme and co had anything to do with it. Add a whole pile of mosquito bites to the lyme issues and allergies and I AM NOT A HAPPY PUPPY.

randibear....My sympathy to you.
I have an appt. with an ENT on the 26th of this month for the same thing.
So many sinus infections. Such face pain and headaches.
In the morning, it's me and my puff's plus. It takes a couple of hours to get right.
I'm going to suggest Diflucan.
I also have swollen glands but the facial pain and pressure is certainly the worst.
I honestly feel like how can this ENT help. I'm on Doxy every day and Keflex on and off for these infections.
Plenty of mono tests, strep tests, tests, tests, tests. Last ENT said it was stress and I should Go Fishing more to relax.
Sheesh. I had trouble with sinus infections before, but nothing like this since my lyme dx. from April of last year.
Prayers and hugs for you Randi~
Oh yeah, and I have a neurologist appt. the day before my ent appt. Aint' it grand?
Funny story..Picked up my MRI of spine from '05 to take to neuro guy and my G.P. said to take CT scan of my brain too.
MRI of spine..HUGE...My brain....really tiny.... This is Lyme....This is your brain on lyme..gotta love it!!!!!
I was just going to tell you good luck but my fingers kept going. Sorry.

Zebco,
Most doctors won't put you on Diflucan. It is hard on the liver, and they don't believe in "systematic" yeast infections. They only believe yeast exist breifly in the mouth, on the feet, or in the vaginal area....
My doctor was with the Fibro and Fatigue Center and even though they are MDs they use vitamins and supplements as well as mecidication. They use the best of both, which most doctors won't due. And they believe that yeast bother a lot of people.
My husband is on Nystatin for his yeast, our LLMD gave it to him and he said it helps his headaches more than anything else he has ever taken!
