I am currently seeing a LLMD who is no doubt very knowledgable. The first time I saw him was at the end of May and then I took the IGENEX test, which finally came back the 3rd of July as positive. He started me on clarithromycin.
I then went back the end of July where he told me that I would at the very least need to be on IV rocephin, but he was going to prescribe it through my primary doc back home.
Well that was going on 2 months and he has not called my doc as promised, nor has he returned my calls or my doctors calls. In the meantime I am experiencing what seems like a new symptom everyday.
Also he did not check for any co-infections, which makes me a bit worried. What do you think I should do? I am kind of tired of waiting around, as well as I am tired of harrassing him. And I can not continue to sit here and get sicker!

I would try to find another LLMD who can offer a second opinion. It sounds like your current MD is not fulfilling your needs!

I agree with Sariejack, He may be knowledgeable, but he seems to not be a very good Dr. What is his job if not to be responsive?
Also, 6 weeks to get Igenex results is outrageous. I'll bet he had the results in 3 weeks but he didn't contact you right away.
Is he an ILADS LLMD?
Someone here collects comments on the Drs for the Seeking a LLMD discussion. I'm not sure WHO it is, but your comments on your experience should be recorded.
Try calling his office and ask for a referral to a LLMD that has more time to respond to you.

Thanks guys! That is kind of what I was thinking too. The frusterating part is starting over again to find a doctor that will help me. I have put in a post on the seeking a doctor portion, so hopefully that will help.

I agree with the others that have posted that a new LLMD is in order. We need to be able to count on our doctors.
