I had done two rounds of Mepron and Zith without any discernable change (no better, no worse).
Round 3 of Mepron is being combined with Biaxin XL and woo-ie things are being stirred.
I believe that when I was hospitalized 2 weeks ago it was actually a horrible 'herx'. At the time I was thought to have heart disease or a blood clot in the lung. All was ruled out.
I did not take any mepron or biaxin while in the hospital. When I returned home, after 3 days I resumed the meds......
As of this past Sunday I have had my first clearing in 22 months of treatment. On Monday I was able to attend a public function for the first time in 22 months. Tuesday laid low. Yesterday, I walked 3 miles and went out on the lake.
So, for me, Mepron combined with Zith did little, but Mepron with biaxin XL seems to be working!
It is so strange, to feel somewhat normal after all of this time. I was seriously doubting that it was possible.
I hope that it lasts. And to everyone else, keep trying to find your magic mix.

Glad that you are seeing improvement...*don't overdo now tho' Okay?!! .
I did *that a few weeks after a surgery in the 90's...I felt so much better...'I can climb this hill...' Uhm...not...wasn't a good plan, I was laid up after climbing around on a property we looked at, for weeks.
I tried Mepron and found it helpful,but we lost our insurance after the second bottle and I had no way to get more.
Now Biaxin, gives me nonstop diarrhea,TMI I know, it wont go away...so I cannot take Biaxin.
So far when I need to take something, Zithromax has helped,tho it is spendy. But I get horrendous headaches from Bactrim/Sulfa..severe.
I am happy for you to see an improvement!!!

Feelfit, such great news!! You are so right about the "magic mix" or as others have put it, for them it was "cumulative" re: tx and improvement.
Glad you've found Biaxin XL helpful and I do know it has anti-inflammatory properties so it may also be reducing inflammation in the brain and poss elsewhere??
In any case enjoy feeling better and getting out, it's so wonderful to hear about people's successes even though they've played the Lyme quick-step -you know, one step forward, 20 back!! Posted by feelfit (Member # 12770) on :
Ha,Btm, I have never yet had the one step forward, I do know about the 20 steps back though. Today not nearly close to yesterday.
But, I will keep yesterday in my mind and know that it is possible

Wonderful news!!!
Not only is it beyond great that you are finally having some good days, but it's so much easier to go on with treatment when you know you are on the right track.
I don't know how many times I've read the same scenario from others on this forum. The right meds/combinations ARE the key.

I am thrilled for you!! Just getting a glimpse at the light at the end of the tunnel can do wonders for your spirit!
It is amaazing how different we all are - I cannot tolerate Biaxin at all, but Zith was a wonder drug for me.
On your next bad day hang on to those good days and know that there are more to come!

I'm happy for you feelfit! I used Mepron/Biaxin, too. I could not handle the zith, even towards the end of treatment.
