Can anyone explain the difference between hla-dr4 testing and the 5 part hla testing. My husband has a positive hla-dr4 test through quest and I read that certain hla testing can indicate an inability to detox properly. Dr. S in Florida has an article about biotoxins and he indicates that the testing is different?

What is the difference between the hla-dr4 test through quest and the 5 part hla testing through labcorp?

i understood that the hla-dr4 test tells you if you will probably have problems with arthritis if you get lyme

i knew this 10 yrs or so ago

when they started talking about the detox thing it confused me-but i wasn't seeing the llmd that ordered my test and told me about the arthritis-so i couldn't ask him

Thank you lpkayak!

I will ask my our LLMD about it at our appointment on Monday. I will post his response.

Hi lpkayak,

We went to our appointment Monday night...

My husband's lyme doc uses the HLA-DR4 testing to determine a patient's predisposition to Lyme Arthritis (just like you said). I talked with him about Dr. S. research on biotoxins and while he thinks it has a great deal of merit, he hasn't seen how it would change a treatment protocol.

The 5 part HLA inherited gene marker testing through Labcorp is different then the HLA-DR4 test my husband had through Quest. Dr. S. gives a basic overview on his website. I'm sure you've already read it, but just in case: http://www.personalconsult.com/articles/aggressivelymetxfailure.html

I'm going to buy Mold Warriors because I heard it has a lot of information about HLA types.

Thank you so much for your help!
