Hi,

I saw on the CanadaDrugs.com site that Mepron is $1259.92 for 420 ml.

I am paying $1800.00 for 420 ml locally.

Does anyone use this on-line pharmacy?

Do you have any problem getting your medication on time?

Do you think it is legit and the meds are the real thing???

I am wondering if I would be waiting for a long time for my Mepron to arrive...and be without it when I need it.....their policy is a 21 day shipping guarantee.

Any experience you have had with CanadaDrugs.com would be welcome...thanks!

Wow,

That's $900 per bottle US and $630 in Ca? Both those prices are absolutely CRAZY! I wonder if Mexico or overseas is cheaper.

But the price GSK is charging is unjustified and obscene!

Does anyone know when the patents expire?

Someone posted that she was paying $25 per bottle via her insurance. What a lucky person!

Good luck and tell us what kind of prices you find from alternate sources.

James,

You are right, the prices are obscene.

People like us who need it are just screwed.

My insurance does not pay for prescriptions...hard to believe since my self pay Blue Shield policy is $340/month.

For that cost, they do not cover Dr visits either!

I read that the patent did expire, but apparently there is no generic version yet.

Thanks for the reply.

I don't take mepron but I get all my rx's there. If I order monday morning I sometimes receive by friday--if not, early the following week.

Since Mepron is an anti-malaria drug, it *might* be cheaper in countries that have a problem with malaria.

In the US and Ca malaria is not a problem, so maybe GSK can get away with whatever they want to charge.

Does anyone know about Mexican and Central American mail order pharmacies? Or any country where Malaria is a major problem. South Africa, SE Asia, etc.

Hmmm, it's also listed as a drug used for people with AIDS.

Theoretically malaria medication should be cheaper in countries such as South Africa and SE Asia where the disease is problematic. Though, in these countries medications are often given away for free by drug manufacturers and distributed through clinics to the people in need.

I would be very wary when purchasing any medication online from Africa, Asia, or Central America as counterfeit medications are known to be a real problem. You could end up with something as harmless and useless as a sugar pill. Worse yet you could end up with something contaminated, toxic, or deadly.

No matter what pharmacy you choose, you will want to make sure that they are buying their products from reputable sources. Canadian or European pharmacies might be a more reliable resource.

Check out this website, I found it to be very informative: http://www.pharmacychecker.com/aboutop.asp

Good luck:)

I haven't used CanadaDrugs.com, but it is a reputable source. It is recommended on the canlyme forum, and lots of people there use it.

knobs,

Thanks for taking giving me your input!

James,

Nice thought....I agree with Sammy though, that I would be too wary of pharmacies in some of those locations.

Thanks Sammy for your thoughts!

seekhelp,

Can you adopt me and my daughter on your prescription plan??? lol

Nicole_Denise,

Thank you for your input also!

The only thing I am worried about and that would prevent me from using CanadaDrugs, I think, is the 14-21 day time frame it would take to get meds.

I don't want to screw up my treatment with Mepron by stopping it for 2-3 weeks (when old script runs out) while waiting for a new prescription to come from Cananda.

I don't see my LLMD until the end of Oct and I hate to call him to ask for extra prescriptions to get me through those extra waiting weeks, if you know what I mean.

He's very nice, but I try not to call them because they are busy enough.

My husband decided he is going to call the owner of some pharmacies to see if they can sell it to us at a better price if they want our business.

I don't think they will though...I told him that GSK has set the price.

Seeks,

You make me cry. $8.33 a bottle. Wow.

Actually, I *only* pay $78 a bottle. IF a generic comes out, the price for me drops to $10 for the whole prescription of 3 bottles a month. I hope I'm still alive when that happens!

lymster,

Thanks for your reply!

James,

I guess it's all relative....I'm at the point where it would seem like a bargain if I could buy Mepron for a few hundred dollars per bottle.

canbravelyme,

Thanks, but we don't meet the guidelines.

Maybe others can benefit from it.
