I wanted to try this program for yeast and was wondering if it seems fine to do?

You take two Thorne Formula SF722 pills with each meal and 3 acidophilous a day on an empty stomach?

The ingedigents on the Thorne Reasearch bottle says: 10-Undecenoic Acid 50mg. When I looked online I didn't see any side effects but just wanted to make sure.

A woman online swears by this she sais she struggled with Candida for 10 years and wants to help others.

Here is the site tell me what you guys think?

Thanks,
Ann

P.S. I started it yesterday and feel kinda spacey and tired but I think that may be from sugar/caffiene withdrawl?

Acidophilus is good. Never heard of the Thorne formula. You will get herx symptoms from the yeast die off. May be another reason for the spacey/tired. My LLMD has me on nystatin 4 tabs daily. Keeps yeast at bay and I also take a probiotic.

Never heard of the Thorne formula. If it was good, my lyme doc would have told me about it.

Never heard it mentioned on this site either, so hard to believe it is anything that works.

You might want to keep this info in mind:

10-UNDECENOIC ACID

Safety Profile

Moderately toxic by ingestion and intraperitoneal routes.

A severe skin irritant.

Ingestion can cause nausea, vomiting, and urticaria (hives)....

How many does it say to take on the bottle?

This is a derivative of the Castor bean and is used for anti-dandruff shampoo & athletes foot preparations.

Personally, I would run it by my LLMD before taking. I tend to do that before I take anything I'm unsure of.

It's been around for a long time. They use an active ingredient that's been around since the 50's and I believe there were some good studies behind it. I don't know why caprylic acid is used more now instead of 10-undecenoic acid.

10-undecenoic acid

It's a good product. Some doctors do use it.

If our toxicity is the same as the mouse model (often used for toxicity studies), then a 100 pound person would have to take 104,500 mg at one time to be killed. Actually that would kill 50% of a group. LD50=lethal dose 50.

The bottle recommends 150-250 mg 3X's a day.

http://www.thegoodscentscompany.com/data/rw1035691.html#tosafty

Oral Toxicity(LD50) :
Gavage-Mouse 8150.00 mg/kg
(Newell et al., 1949)

Oral-Mouse 2300-6600 mg/kg
(Tislow et al., 1950)

Oral-Rat 2500.00 mg/kg
(Tislow et al., 1950)

AliG is right though, be sure to check with your doctor.

My Lyme friendly chiropractor gave me this awhile back. He uses Thorne Labs a whole lot. Good products.

He did give it for yeast issues. . and some times I've used it internally as well. Damn painful, but it works.

It says on the wiki that it's anti-bacterial, also.

Are you supposed to take it together with the probiotics? I would think that might be a waste of acidophilus.

AliG - Good point but I don't think she was going to take them together.

lakes - If you take the probiotics on an empty stomach they need to be specially made to withstand the acid in the stomach. Something like theralac.
