I hope this post doesn't go up twice. I thought I posted it. I'm fading fast. I am wondering about doses and antibiotics to take after IV Rocephin.

Are you treating only lyme? Have you been assessed for other TBD (tick-borne diseases)?

Much depends on what infections you are treating and other individual considerations. Your LLMD will have his/her own preference in your case. (Since you are getting IV rocephin, I assume you hae a LLMD.)

If your LLMD has not yet talked to you about the next step, you might call his/her office and ask if there is a basic protocol page for patients that they send to you. You might also ask about a reading list or dietary guidelines, although you will find those in the book listed below.

Members of your local lyme support group may also be able to share their experiences with your doctor and their specific treatment or perhaps a basic idea of what to expect and how to best take care of yourself during the process.

Although, be aware not every patient is the same nor requires or can tolerate the exact treatment. And some doctors prefer their patients not share details for obvious reasons of misinterpretation.

**** Are you currently taking something to help protect your gallbladder? That is absolutely vital when on rocephin. And liver support is important with most abx (antibiotics), although timing is tricky with some.

Here are a few links to give you an idea of some basic time-lines and most common abx used with lyme and other tick-borne infections by those doctors who are very well educated with such treatment. You do want to be sure the basics are covered - the right meds for the right time.

And, you might also ask if you will be taking something to address the cyst form - flagyl (or tindamax) are typical.

In addition, addressing biofilm (resistent layer around bacteria) is also important. You might ask about Grapefruit Seed Extract - but timing of that need particular instruction.

Yes, I have a positive test for Lyme and Bartonella and having more tests done for other things.

The tricky part is changing over to oral meds. He has put me on 2000 mg of Keflex which I hear is not effective for Lyme. I don't want to lose my doctor that is local so I am trying to come up with solutions. There are no LLMDs where I live.

I'll check out the links you. I'll also take Milk Thistle which I hear is good for the liver.

I'm praying for everyone on this site.

how many days of IV did you have?

it took 13 weeks of IV for my brain fog to lift.

i had a total of 238 days of brand Rocephin (2g).
