every week I go roller skating at a rink. the

roller skating brings balance, and exercise along

with 4 hours of forgetting about lyme...it is

alot of dance on skates and figuring the moves

with your friends is the most powerful part. we

overcome out problems together..when you go

skating for the first 15 times you will not feel

good when you start but you will notice that your

leggs and muscles will start to get real strong..

some of the skaters have lupus and other things

going on but that never stops us from having the

greatest night out with friends..sometimes you

may be herxing and have to sit the nite out but

the next week when you are on the up swing you

will skate your butt of like you are a kid again!

so no matter what your age you can do it..check

with your doctor first! also wear knee pads if

your not that good..I will post a video of us all

together doing a routine that will blow your mind

we are profesionals that started when we were

very young..we have all skated together since

high school! the dance is old school disco and

new disco that replaced it..if you go to a rink

it is called jam skating where you form a chain

and skate fast moving your feet to your friend

in front of you.. in all seriousness I would

never miss a session as it is the time of your

life! at the end of the session you may say hey

were did the lyme go? so that is how I do it.

I am from nyc and we have skating every

weekend in central park along with a dj and

crowds of people skating and also watching the

skaters latests moves..also there is couple

skating that rocks the world as friends skate

backwards together mastering the dance..the

dances take a while to learn and changes your

mind set from thinking about lyme to thinking

about asking a girl or guy to skate and

learning how to dance and I really mean dance

to the music in sinc...so there you go this is

old school roxy from the city that never

sleeps..

WOW...That sounds incredible...very productive and lots of fun.. It reminds me of when I used to go disco dancing back in the 80's when i was really, really sick.

You're right it got my mind off of the symptoms and was a lot of fun. It usually put me to bed for a week, but it helped me take my mind off of it for a couple of hours. Would love to see a video of your skating.

Thanks,

Gael

Fun to read thanks for sharing! A couple years ago we had a birthday party at the skating rink for my daughter. I hadn't been skating other than rollerblading in years. I went with the old school roller skates and just like you said, I felt like a kid again it was great. It was the best party we ever had.
