Serious question for the veterans.

I know the obvious answer is you'd rather have neither, but if you had to pick between Lyme or Babesia, which would you rather have and why?

Babesia. I think it is easier to get rid of than Lyme. I had both.

Lyme affects nearly every organ in the body. It gets into the brain, etc. It's a really nasty thing to have and the effects are long lasting.

Babesia. Babesia can be opportunistic for some people, especially if they aren't coinfected with Lyme.

My LLMD says that if a baby gets babesia from his/her mother in utero, the child might never show symptoms of the infection if he/she doesn't get Lyme from the mother too. So preventing Lyme transmission is the best thing you can do, because it weakens your body so much.

People with obvious babesia need to treat it, so I'm not saying you should only treat Lyme.

A lot of people will test positive for babesia though, and show no symptoms, in tick endemic areas. In one study, they found it in 25% of people in an area.

Lyme.

I have a severe case of Babesiosis, and I have treated it several times. It has been a very serious disease for me.

In my case, Babesiosis is the worst disease of the five the tick transmitted to me.

CLR what would you answer?

Sammi, I don't know how to answer this yet as I just got blood work back indicating positive for Babesia. Could explain why my Lyme tx has pretty much failed thus far. Going to tackle Babesia now.

It's still early (recent tick bite and symptoms), so hopefully I have that going for me.

Same story CLR. I have been treated for lyme for a year. Now Babesia. Maybe this will work? I'm on Mepron, Bioxin,Vantin, and Fluconozol. The Mepron has been rough. How long have you been on babs treatment.

CLR, it is good your infection is early. It is also good you know you have Babesiosis so you can treat it.

Good luck with your treatment!
