Hey there,

I've been off meds and supplements for two months due to 3 months of diarrhea and bloody mucous reoccuring.

Unfortunately, when I seemed to be improving I goofed and ate a brownie...after 3 months of no sweets. The next day the gas and trouble started again. Can yeast cause this much discomfort?

After the first bout LLMD tested for C-diff 4 times, neg. Gastroenterologist did colonoscopy..normal. Then I went downhill again.

I'm anxious to get back to treatment but need to get this stomach issue cleared up. Anyone have any advice?

Yes, yeast can cause these problems. I had bad candida years ago and after not eating sweets for 2 months, i had a can of coke. Next day I felt pretty lousy! I took anti-fungal meds and herbals for three months and lots of probiotics to get the problem under control. I currently take Diflucan and probiotics to keep candida under control (i'm on IV abx). I would do a serious anti-candida protocol at least untill you feel a lot better.
Regards, Paul

Have you looked into the possibility of a parasitic infection? I am treating for one and have learned that most people here in US have parasites. They really can become a problem for immune-suppressed folks. I had a lot of inflammation, food intolerances and gall bladder removed. I am slowly getting better treating the bugs. Yuk!

Have you had your gallbladder checked?
Make sure when you test for c.diff that the stool sample is diarrhea or else it can be false negative. If you don't get it to the lab within an hour it also can be false negative. Did the colonoscopy include biopsies?

Thanks so very much.

My c diff tests might not be valid: sample on ice, but longer than two hours to the lab. Also, the B.M.s have been inconsistent - sometimes liquid, sometimes formed. My tests have been during formed B.M.s. If one has c diff will the B.M. change like that?

My llmd checked my gallbladder...it overproduces.
I feel a jittery sensation in my gut, like an adrenaline rush, every night when I lay down, and sometimes during the day.

I've always been concerned with parasites...and have occasional itching that supports the theory. I have horses, cats and dogs and deworm all of THEM. The gastroenterologist dismissed my suggestion with a hasty comment that infestation wouldn't cause these symptoms, but what do they know anyway?(I'm beginning to have faith only in llmd)

Yes, there were biopsies. One went to the Gast. regular lab and one went to MDL for lyme testing.
Results aren't in yet.

And yeast, yep. I've been a sugar addict for the past 7 years and am overweight.

I started the "no sugar, alchohol or grains" diet in May when I started abx, with diflucan and nystatin, and probiotics on all the off times. The gut problems started while on this regimen. The weight loss has been fantastic.

I discontinued the abx and all supplements (except probiotics) when my problem persisted. Been off for a month when I slipped up with the brownie last week.. I felt pain and gas by the morning.

So, where do I start? A shotgun approach to yeast and parasite? I'll see my llmd tomorrow and will add her comments to the discussion.

Thank you so much for your suggestions...I'm sure my llmd had no idea I didn't know the important details about the c diff testing.

Everyone pitching in here is so helpful.
