Does anyone else have this symptom almost non stop?? I am a small person, thin, 105 lbs but feel like I look like I am 3-5 mos pregnant most of the time.
I exercise a lot, eat very healthy (hardly any sugar or carbs) but I just cannot seem to get this to go away.
I had the bloating before being dx with Lyme but since being on abx (off and on since June), the bloating seems even worse and hardly ever goes away!
I drink lots of water, take probiotics to keep away yeast infection etc.
Anything else I can do?
One other thing I must admit that I am worried about is my OBGyn just found a very small cyst on my ovary. My mom had ovarian cancer and I know one of the signs is extreme bloating. My OB/Gyn doesn't think it is anything to worry about. He wants me to have another Ultrasound in 6 weeks. (the cyst is only 2cm, smooth & round...probably benign according to him)
I just can't figure out where the bloating comes from and what if anything I can do about it...

That is very scary about the ovarian cancer. I'm sure you'll keep on top of that!
Have you taken anything to KILL yeast?

Hi there,
Sometimes I feel really freaky being able to say that I have so many of the things that folks post here.
But, once again, I was just dx'ed w/ovarian cysts too. I posted about it and it seems like a lot of us female lyme suffers have gyn. problems.
Your cyst is pretty small and radiologists and doctors are pretty good at identifying them. As you said, they appear smooth and soft.
I also have a nodule on my left ovary, now this is a different situation and merits attention. Since you have a cyst and not a nodule, you are probably safe. If your doctor was concerned, esp. given the history of your Mom's disease, they would investigate further as I am scheduled to do.
As for the bloating, as TuTu has suggested, could be that. Could also be a bart gut symptom...or yeast....you will only know by process of elimination.

I got horrible bloating from intestinal yeast infections numerous times while treating lyme and cos.
You have to get a prescription med (diflucan) to clear it. Then, the bloating will go away.
I was so huge, I could only wear loose, hanging clothes. I'm talking a waist getting at least 5 inches bigger.
And, I followed the anti-yeast diet, took probiotics, drank kefir daily, etc. It is just that on combination antibiotics, or high-dose antibiotics, you can easily get a yeast infection.
The meds are killing all of your intestinal flora each time you take them. The first to grow back are the yeasts. So, you get an overgrowth of yeast.
It sounds like you had yeast before you even started treatment. I have known people who had that also. In that case, the meds we take definitely make the condition worse.
Check your tongue first thing in the morning and see if it is white or has yellow spots on it. That's the yeast.
You have to call your lyme doc to get the prescription.
Suggest you eliminate all sugars and carbs. I only ate meat and non-starchy vegetables, some eggs, and home-made kefir during lyme treatment.
Use stevia as your only sweetener.
No fruit, nothing made from flour, no cereal, no rice, etc. Get really strict on the diet once you start the diflucan.

Is diflucan the only thing that kills yeast? I do check my tongue regularly. It is hard to know what is normal. Everyone in my family seems to have some white on their tongue...isn't that somewhat normal? I mean no one's tongue is really just all pink/red...at least not the friends/family I have checked.
Wow, am i crazy? I've asked people to show me their tongues so I can see if mine is 'normal' compared to theirs..LOL
Anyway, I do stay away from sugars and carbs. I also take olive leaf and probiotics and rinse with an antibiotic mouthwash each night after I brush my teeth.
I too feel like I have so many things I just can't keep track. I just know this one symptom is bothering me tremendously and I want it to go away!!
Can you take Diflucan with abx? What else kills yeast?
I'm going to have a MR scan on the ovarian cyst even though my doc wants to wait. Better safe than sorry.

Can yeast even cause some tenderness in lower abdomen?
I'm just now dealing with bloating for the first time.
Only bloating though. No constpation, no nausea, no diarrhea, no vomitting. Just bloating.

If you are on longterm antibiotics, chances are good you could have yeast overgrowth. I don't like to be on antibiotics without being on Nystatin. Even though Nystatin only stays in the GI, for some reason it does seem to help with yeast. I would recommend everyone on abx longterm take that or Diflucan all the time.
The good thing about Nystatin is it doesn't interact with much, and Diflucan interacts with more, and is burdensome to the liver. So I prefer Nystatin, because it's less stressful on my body, but seems to do the job.
Question for Txlymie and Feelfit.....
Can you all "feel" your ovarian cysts? I often have a "pressure" feeling right above one of my ovaries. My doctor said that can happen at certain times of the month, but mine just seems to flare too often. Sometimes I wonder if I should get checked for ovarian cysts (like some kind of scan).
Though I had a trans-vaginal ultrasound not too long ago, and they looked at the ovaries and didn't see anything. But this was before I remember noticing the pressure, which seems to be getting more frequent.

I've been experiencing the periods of bloating since last summer. They seem to last a few days and ease up only to swell up again.
It's not just noticing it with my clothes. I actually can feel the swelling around the middle. I've been thinking it was hormonal.
I started thinking menopause(I'm 52) when vaginal dryness and lack of interest started also. My yearly exam is this month and I have lots of questions for gyn.
I'd parted with unused parts about 10 yrs ago. I kept my ovaries. But I do want to make sure nothing serious is going on with them. I did have pelvic inflammatory disease in my 30s & 40s.
Plan to rule out ovarian cysts or bad stuff.

You don't have to have a white tongue in order to have intestinal yeast. I never do.
There's a whole list of natural things that kill yeast here:
olive leaf extract, caprylic acid, GSE, all kinds of things.....
What brand of probiotic are you taking?

I too have been suffering with extreme bloating.
I follow a very careful diet - no gluten, dairy, sugar etc... but still am very bloated
I think that in addition to yeast being the culprit, I do take alot of supp.'s and maybe some of them are causing the problem.
Very frustrating as my stomach looks like it belongs to someone else...does not match the rest of my body.
No weight gain -just uncomfortable bloat.
I went back on olive leaf extract, GSE and Oil of Oregano to see if that helps... You are definatly not alone. TG

My tongue was coated white last night! Real bad!
So let me ask you guys this...
How does the yeast go from intestine to the tongue? What's the process?
Cuz when this all started it felt like something was irritating my throat. Now I think it may have been yeast.
I think yeast may do more than we realize. Especially when it gets really bad.

you have frienly bacteria in your mouth as well that would usually keep yeast in check.
Abx, kills this off as well, leaving yeast another warm, moist place to go crazy. My fave thing for mouth yeast is to rinse with diluted hydrogen peroxide a couple times a week.
Also, I eat some plain yogurt and kefir specifically for this reason.

My tongue was coated 6 months ago and I had thrush. Sooooo I had to take a liquid ABX to get rid of it.

Bloating can also be related to gastroparesis, slow stomach emptying, which seems to be a feature for some with Lyme, including several here.
