So, I have a question. Did you have insomnia before Lyme? And, did you have it before starting treatment or only after? Could it be due to what you're taking? (The doc had me on Vitamin B twice a day... couldn't sleep. Took it only in the morning and was fine.) Just wondering... thanks.

No, but I also became symptomatic after having my son, which is a whole new level of don't sleep. I'm not on meds right now, but I notice sleep issues during flare ups.
Vitamin B can hinder sleep, which is why my practitioner says not to take after 5.

- Yeah, I can't take B vitamins after my 3 pm snack. B's will help nourish nerve fibers but they sure can be stimulating.
However, B-6 at night (or its precusor, P5P pyridoxal-5-phospate) is good before bedtime.

Adrenal support is also vital to help the sleep cycle. -

I didn't have insomnia before lyme. But lyme makes me sleep and wake up tired.
My LLMD thinks my insomnia is from babesia not from lyme.
It could be, but it could be psychological too. Insomnia is tricky.

I have never had problems sleeping until I began my first abx treatment for Lyme. Sleeping has been difficult since that time.
Everything changed for me when abx began, I was sick before but am sicker and don't sleep well since being on abx. Still new in treatment

Never any sleep problems before Lyme--would stay active all day and sleep like a baby all night.
Since Lyme tx began years ago--HUGE sleep probs.Guess that explains why I'm answering this post instead of snoozing at this hour.
Sometimes I can't sleep at all for days, and then when encephalitis flares up, I can't stop sleeping. The rest of the time, it's usually significant insomnia that requires combos of several meds to overcome, at least for a few hours.
Can't sleep, always tired!

I've had Lyme almost my whole life and have also had a hard time sleeping most of my life.
Someone on another thread said she takes B vitamins to help her sleep. I find the opposite as was stated above.

My experience is that the Lyme and Company has me so exhausted that I sleep great. Go figure.

I think my sleep problems mostly started when I got sick. I do sleep alot better now though.

I never had sleep issues ever before my Lyme went full blown or rather my Bartonella.
Insomnia was mine and my son's first symptoms. It got real bad on tx for Bart. but now after the 2nd time treating it I have days even weeks were I can sleep with out taking herbs or Rx.
I was taking herbs and Zanax or Lunetra ect... and still had a hard time sleeping through the night when my insomnia was at it's worst.
It does get better with tx!

I never had sleep issues before lyme. Insomnia might have been my first symptom now that I think about it. If so, then I have had lyme longer than I thought. I became ill 3 and a half years ago, but had insomnia for a couple of years before that.
Insomnia is so miserable. I spent years just sleeping about 2 or 3 hours a night. Now with meds I sleep 5 or 6 hours.
