What is the best thing to do about severe constipation? Originally I started out with loose stools now this.
More than ever I understand the importance of getting toxins out of the body.

What have you tried? There's so much out there! I feel like I've tried it all, so here's what I've come up with:
-High doses of Magnesium (the only type of magnesium that works well for me with this issue is magnesium oxide. I take it on an empty stomach with a load of water in the morning)
-L-Glutamine (also best if taken on an empty stomach)
-Cutting out ALL gluten and dairy (I get constipated if I even get a crumb or a drop now...cross contamination even sets me back)
-Triphala and Rhubarb (triphala stimulates the intestine while rhubarb softens the stool)
-Senna and Cascara Segrada (These two herbs should only be used in "emergent" or severe cases, because you can become addicted to them. They also stain and darken the lining of your intestines, like many prescription laxatives do. They often do work though!)
I've got some other ideas but unfortunately don't feel well enough to continue throwing them out there...PM me though if you'd like!

Miralax works. OTC at Walgreens is where I got it for my husband.

Mangosteen juice stops this for me, makes my intestines regular like a baby's.

I get constipated from gluten too. The opposite of what happens to most people.

My LLMD has me on one slippery elm with first meal of the day and one capsule with last meal of the day. So far it's working quite well.
