I have been seen by a cardiologist who is quite familiar with lyme (which is amazing), and he's sure its not my heart.
What causes this if its not my heart? I guess I'm just so new to this, and its difficult for me to understand it all. Its so strange, and I've never had any of this before lyme.
Does anyone else have odd chest sensations, or is it just me?

I get them. I'm convinced it's some reaction with my heart, but my cardiologist doesn't agree.
I get stabbing pains. Sometimes crushing. Most of the time, it's for a very short period. Sometimes it's just uncomfortable for awhile and then goes away. I just had an echo performed -- my previous one was fine -- and the tech didn't start waving a red flag of seeing anything significant. I don't have my results back yet though.
I get air hunger occasionally. Not one of my big symptoms but I will have periods of time where it bothers me for a little while.
I have mainly PAC's, some PVC's, and they seem to sprout up when I'm having more chest/heart symptoms.
I wonder if it's nerve pain of the heart since Lyme and co-infections mess with nerves. However, my primary made a comment about my chest pain by stating that if my chest were wide open and someone touched your heart that you would not feel it. He said maybe I have some pinched nerves in the chest, but it's not my nerves on my heart.

There is a word for it, but I can't remember, and it has nothing to do with your heart. It's an inflammation in your chest wall. I get this all the time, and Advil really helps!

I get it all of the time. My heart is fine verified by catheterization. Never take chest symptoms lightly, always check it out when in doubt.
That being said, lots of folks here with chest pressure, stabs and apparently healthy hearts.

There is costochondritis or chest wall inflammation. It can cause weird chest pains.
I had the strange heart pains initially with lyme. I haven't had them in a long time though. My heart always checked out OK whenever I had it checked so I have to assume that it was inflammation in the area of the heart causing some rubbing.

I get chest pains also. All my tests check out fine.
I really do not know what causes it but one doc told me it could be babs related and was muscle pain.
It is strange - it will come and go for no reason at all.

Like the others have said it is the cartilage between your rib cage that is swollen--
Most people get it mostly on left side of chest- It is usually caused by Babs infection-
It will go away with treatment --Jay--

My only issue with the supposed rib cage pain / chest wall inflammation is when the pain is associated with palpitations or arrhythmia. Maybe there is some interconnection between the two, but I think the chest wall pain is an easy way out for a diagnosis, kind of like the answers I get from my 10 minutes PCP visits.

Yes, I get this too, and all my cardiologist tessts came back fine too.
Sometimes it's a stabbing pain, others it's a heavy pain like an elephant is standing on my chest.
It's annoying and sometimes scary.
Mine has gotten better with treatment, but it still pops up occasionally.

I did have an echo, and everything shows to be fine.

I had stabbing chest pains on and off for years before I was diagnosed with Lyme and babesia.
When I began treating for babesia the stabbing pains quickly returned, but as treatment went on they became more infrequent and were less intense.
I haven't had any chest pains for a while now. I associate them with babesia.

Well, wonder of wonders, I started really having some pain in my chest this afternoon.
It starts on/around my breastbone and spreads out into the ribs.
This is the first time I've had pain that I can identify exactly what it feels like.
I'm guessing this is what everyone keeps calling costochondritis.
Now, my question is, since I stopped Rifampin on Saturday, is this related to that? Is this one of the "you'll feel crappy for a week or two" symptoms, or is it something I need to call my LLMD about (whenever he gets back in the office after the blizzard ends.)?

With two of my children, chest pain was most likely from babs because it only happened when I stopped their Mepron for a week to see if they were better. Then the chest pain was there for a day until I restarted the Mepron.
