Any experiences with this? We escorted her through what seemed like a bad cold with echinacea, epsom salts baths, alternating Tylenol and Motrin, and lots of Disney movies.
But now that I look at the symptoms they are reporting, I realize that they match what she had exactly. She even had a little of the panting thing, which I thought was congestion.
Am I a bozo for not taking her to the doctor?
I honestly feel like she came through just fine.

Could you list the symptoms again of H1N1?? My husband has had aches and fever since Sunday but is doing very well by this evening.
I wonder if it was H1N1?? Wouldn't it be more likely for it to be that since the seasonal flu usually comes later in winter???

You're not really a bozo. Most doctors don't really think it's necessary to go to the doctor for it unless you have a really high fever or it lasts longer than usual, etc.

You're not a bozo for not taking her to the doctor.
If she did well on the treatment you gave her, that's probably all she needed.
No use to take her in to the doctor's office and expose her to who knows what if she was doing all right at home.
If it was H1N1, what you need to watch for is if she suddenly starts getting worse again; then it's urgent that you take her either to the doctor or the ER.

Sounds like you did great, and so did she.
Most children do fine, have only mild symptoms, and then get over H1N1 completely.
But, as Starfall pointed out above, what you need to watch out for is if she relapses after getting better, and starts to get worse with an even higher temperature, or have bronchitis-like symptoms - then you should call your doctor or bring her to the ER.
That probably will not happen, so not to worry you!

I had headache then runny nose then semi sore throat not bad then the acheing started then hot cold for about 4 days then weak for 2 more.?

Lymetoo, list of symptoms: my daughter had a severe cough (which she is prone to), the threat of a fever (which we were keeping down, because during her last virus she went to 106.7), body pain and a little bit of panting and wheezing. It blew through in about three days, then she was fine.
How is your husband now?
Sarfall and Vermont, I will definitely watch for the bronchitis and secondary pneumonia, which seems to be a problem with the H1N1. She normally carries a lingering cough, but I will listen for anything unusual.
Treepatrol, are you feeling any better?

But.. he went back to work today and is OK. He says he thinks it was really just a sinus infection...but I have my doubts!

She's much better, thanks. She carries a nagging cough every time she gets over a cold, which is bothersome for her. But she's back to her smiling self. Glad your husband is doing better.

In Minnesota they have set up a health line for people with symptoms. The nurses are prescribing tamiflu over the phone, which is apparently legal during a pandemic.
Great for the tamiflu company.
I was SO mad when my neighbors went to the Doctor. I think it is irresponsible to take anyone with a fever to the doctor right now UNLESS they are in crisis and then they should be going to the ER.
I think you did the right thing. My son had it in June. It is hard, but it was do-able.

My mother and I were sick back in September and I'm wondering if maybe it was swine flu. It started with a week long headache from hell along with fatigue. Then, after a week came the body aches and then a sore throat that was so severe I could barely even swallow saliva. Then came the terrible cough.
I was given amoxicillin for the sore throat which my doctor believed whatever it was started viral and then the sore throat was bacterial. No high fever with it though. Maybe about 100. My mother presented exactly the same way and my symptoms started exactly 1 week after hers. She was also treated with amoxicillin for the sore throat. Anyone think we had swine flu?

Most of the cases reported now are swine flu.
Very little seasonal flu. Most of the critical
cases have been very sick within the first 24 hrs.
and critical by day 3. This one targets the inner
lung. At first sign of this strain run to the doc.

Laura, my daughter went through the same thing. What made it worse for her was an 8-hr road trip to a speech tournament that lasted 14hrs day for two days.
So, along with her chronic illness, she had this on top of it, and her coaches FORCED her to perform.
She has been sick all week. I took her to urgent care and they gave her a z-pack. Which is laughable to us, but she hadn't been on zith for years.
BOY...did she herx! But, it cleared up her sinus infection that came with the virus.
