My almost 4 year old daughter had been under treatment for 4 mos and her llmd thinks she is fine now. She never had any significant symptoms other than occasionally she complained about her leg hurts. But since her mother has some obvious symptoms and tested positive for Lyme and co-infections, her doctor accepted her complaint as evident for treatment.
She took the last dose last Sunday, and starting Monday, she seems to be a lot more difficult with school and at home. She does not seem to eat as much.
She would be in bad mood all morning but then after she took a nap, she would be fine, playing with others, etc.
Given the fact that my brother and sister-in-lawe are visiting overseas and she gets tons of attention at home at the moment and her schedule is a little more "relaxed".
I will keep watching for a few more days before contacting her llmd. But I wonder if this is something you al have experienced and have any thoughts to share.

Dad if you do not think she is right she most
likely isn't. Did her leg hurts come from a white
count deficiency? My daughter did that when she
was 3. I had to build up her counts or they were
going to do a bmb. I would take her temp several
times a day. And get some blood work done. A lot
of lyme patients have high hemoglobins and red
cells but do not have protein levels to match
such good results. And can be white cell
deficient. Just a couple of thoughts. Hang in
there. If she has any results don't forgot your
copies.

I am not a doctor, but will share our experiences.
When the symptoms rebound quickly, literally overnight, after stopping abx - in our case it was Bartonella infection.
One of our children experienced the pain in legs, not sure if it was Bart or Lyme, but with tx it disappeared. She went from not being able to walk, to playing an agressive sport. (this took awhile - but it did happen).
As a caregiver, mom, and patient I have learned to listen to my intuition. No one knows your child as well as you do.

njlymemom - that's interesting you should mention bart. among all infections, bart is the most certain thing. Her mom always had dogs and several cats - all of them are in-and-out doors. One of the cats died while my wife was pregnant with my daughter and just started her symptom. The cat died supposely from cancer but now when I look at Karen's book with that Lyme cat photo, I am not sure.
My daugher got bitten by something about three weeks ago now and she scratches her body all the time ever since. I took a photo and sent it to her llmd, but he didn't think it has any significance. I just haven't decided if I should take her to see a regualr doctor yet. Her regular pedia. told all children without serious illness not to come in to the office at the moment because of the flu.
I think if this doesn't go away, I will call her llmd and hopefully he will take it more seriously and start her back with med.

Normal, healthy kids don't have leg pain, which I think as parents of lymies we either forget about or it gets discounted so much by the professionals.
Years of on and off leg pain for my son and they called it growing pains. Now we call it Bartonella bone pain.
It never comes that quickly with us. . we are having some results with the Cowden Protocal for our sons. Not sure what will happen. . just beginning.

Also, njlymemom - do you mind telling me how long the treatment was for your child? Is she still on and how do one decide when to stop?
