Why would think that it's "all in [your] head" ? Why ever do we automatically assume that? (I know, many doctors tell us.)

While we all can benefit from positive wording of our thoughts, etc., there are some very real explanations for all your symptoms.

As you begin your doxy,

Did your doctor tell you to:

1) take probiotics - not at the same time as doxy, but several times during the day?

Probiotics can help prevent a candida (yeast) infection that can become systemic in all people and animals. Olive Leaf Extract is also an excellent supplement to help prevent a candida infection.

You REALLY want to prevent it is the first place as it can be very hard to get under control once it begins. Avoid all simple sugars and avoid all artificial sweeteners, too.

2) to take liver support supplements to protect your liver from both lyme toxins and from the medicine being hard on the liver?

This will also lessen a "herx"

3) to take other nutritional supplements that will calm the anxiety and panic?

Adrenal support, magnesium, fish oil and B-vitamins are vital.

This is included in Burrascano's Guidelines, but you may want to be able to refer to it separately, too:

While addressing the infection is key to eliminating anxiety, some things here can also help ease that along the way:

Did your doctor also test for co-infections, other TBD (tick-borne disease)?

You do know that no matter what the test says, this is a CLINICAL diagnosis? It is best that an experienced doctor evaluate you in person and consider history, etc.

And . . . 30 days is a start but if this is lyme you will need a combination of medicines and treatment would need to go for at least 30 weeks or 2 months past the time symptoms clear.

I apologize for tossing fuel to the flame here, really I do. I just want to be sure you get good medical guidance.

As for helping to prevent or lessen a herx, also take the very best care of yourself as you can. No aerobic exercise but do move about as best you can to get the lymph tissue moving, etc.

Even stretching and a slow walk can be good. Or gently move about to your favorite music. I hope you can enjoy some of the good things in life as you work through the maze of lyme.

Good luck.

Hi Mel,

I agree with everything that Keebler says.

I also want to tell you that not everyone has severe herxes. So, don't panic. If I herxed at all it was minor and didn't last long.

You don't say how long you think you've been infected. If it's a short time, you may not have a huge bacteria die-off to produce a bad herx.

Anyway, good luck, and don't panic.

James

Thank you both for your response and info!

Yes the Doc told me to take probiotics. As far as supplements go I take B6, A multi-v, fish oil and lic root and peony. What do you reccommend for a liver support? Should I take my supplements at a diff time as well?

I was infected with Lyme 6 years ago and was not treated properly however I was doing pretty good up until this past year.

Thanks again! I will keep you posted!

You should also be on something for yeast. I take nystatin 4 times a day. They think it also may help prevent biofilms so if you don't have any call and tell them you are getting yeast and need a script.
