I have been very careful with the sun. I am light skinned.
One week ago I suffered a bad doxy burn to my lower lip.
I lost the first layer of skin. It cracked, blistered, bled and scabbed over.
When I eat, drink, brush my teeth or sleep I can knock the scab off. The skin layer under the scab is still pretty raw.
Does anyone have any treatment suggestions? It doesn't look infected, just raw.
Thanks for your help.

Oh Jeff, that sounds painful!
It might help to try to keep the area moist so that the healing part doesn't crack or scab off.
Have you ever heard of Burts Bees lip balm? It is primarily made from bee's wax. It might help protect and heal your lip. You could try putting a bunch on your finger then apply it gently to the sore area.
I hope it heals quickly for you.

- My favorite lip balm is Nanak's Lip Smoothie (Unscented). But the Burt's Bee's would have more of a healing nature, I suppose.
CankerMelts discs:
You may not be able to place this on your lip and talk, but with lip balm outside and this, just inside, the combo may work.
this helps me - no sugar, no gluten, etc. Licorice and a natural gum substance. You could cut it before placement. As soon as it gets wet, stick it to where you want it to stay. You can sleep with it and it will not harm teeth as licorice is actually anti-microbial.
I use these as cough drops, especially at night. Once one adhers to side of mouth it softens and stays put until morning.
Manuka Honey is also said to have antimicrobial and healing properties. Perhaps you could put a dab on your lip. It's very expensive, however, if you don't chow down (and should not consume it when on antibiotics but on the lip, it will be fine).
The jar will go a long way as a healing salve for burns, etc..
Bactericidal activity of different honeys against pathogenic bacteria.

CONCLUSIONS: Honeys other than those commercially available as antibacterial honeys can have equivalent antibacterial activity. These newly identified antibacterial honeys may prove to be a valuable source of future therapeutic honeys. -

Take Vitamin E at least 600 a day. It goes to the lips and will help heal. Don't put anything on it to add more bacteria. Silvadene cream would probably be best.
