Hi everyone, I am being treated for Lyme by a LLMD
in NH. This morning I found a deer tick on my 5
year old daughters head. It was firmly attatched.
I have been quite sick for a while and now I am
in panic mode. She happens to have a yearly
physical tomorrow. Should I demand she start on
antibiotics? I'm guessing I'm going to get a lot
of "yes" votes but I am just freaking out at
this moment. From reading guidelines it seems
like for a child amoxicillin is a good choice.
Please help me on this. I am also going to call
my LLMD tomorrow. Thank you very much for any
input here

I am with grandmother. I tell anyone I know today that if you find a tick firmly attached- demand 30 days of treatment. I wish I had. God bless you and hang in there. Your LLMD will help with this.

I would definitely treat. No question in my mind. My 3 children have been on abx for a year...the alternative is much worse. If you treat for 4 to 6 weeks, you should have nothing to worry about.

My LLMD says if you find an embedded tick, definetly treat.

I would treat my kids for 2 - 3 months. There systems can handle it and better safe than sorry.
I'm a mom of two kids with congenital lyme, and a likely reinfection on the 13 year old last year, so I'm a big proponent of over-treating for a likely/new infection.
It isn't like these super bugs can become super bugs, you know?
