I went to the doctor with my boyfriend yesterday. He had a closed head injury in an
automobile accident in 1994, so all his symptoms are from that according to all the doctors. I of
course don't believe that and feel that he has Bartonella for sure and probably LD with whatever else.
So he had been having very bad stomach problems that they have been trying to figure out.
He has lost ALOT of weight and can't eat for days sometimes. So the doctor is asking all these questions and he has a student doctor with him.
He comes to nightsweats which my boyfriend has pretty bad. He of course asks about TB, etc. and
then says it's probably from his meds because he has a diagnosis of bipolar also. I ask "what about Bartonella?"
He says "well he has no other symptoms". I about fall out of my chair. I start listing
them...severe headaches(that even all his meds don't control), rage like episodes(which brought
him to his bipolar diagnosis and many psych meds), stomach pain/digestive issues, extreme
weight loss, severe night sweats. He just looks at me with a lost look on his face. I say
something about LD and the med student looks at me and says "We don't have LD in Iowa"! I about
came out of my chair. I was so upset! I said that was probably because we have no one to treat
us here so we all go out of state for treatment. And then I tell her about the veterinarian that
has multiple dogs test positive for it every month. I guess our ticks(and other bugs) here in
Iowa only bite dogs. So then the doctor notices that my boyfriend has gained 7 pounds since his
appt 2 months ago(they forgot to weigh him last time we were there). He said "oh that's great".
So I asked my boyfriend when he started taking the resveratrol that I got for him and he said 7
weeks or so ago. The doctor said "well that's great! Does he need a refill for that
prescription? I don't see it down here his psych doctor must prescribe that one." It scares me
that people like this are taking care of people medically. I know that you can't know everything
and I don't expect doctor's too either. After all they are just people too, but to not admit
when you don't know is scary!!!! Just had to share our experience. All I can do is shake my head!
I hope everyone else is having better luck in their healthcare travels. I am trying to get him
to a LLMD. He obviously is reacting to the resveratrol, so....
Just floors me though!!!! Take care all!

Yeah after running in several cases of complete ignorance borderlining on incompetence I kinda gave up on trusting anything Dr say or present as authoritative opinion. Some of more "alternative" docs I did see though did impress me knowing stuff I did not expect them to know They were pretty mainstream - I stick to allopathic practitioners for now, but were much better informed .
I also found out that ignorant docs also do not bother to read anything you present them. I tried a few times printing out research from pubmed supporting my positions and presenting it to them and I had replies lie "don't trust anything you read on the internet".

My experience with the CDC was beyond ridiculous.
I told her symptoms I was having and she said, "no you're not. You don't have ______ or you don't have _______."
"Here's 2 weeks of doxycycline. you're good to go."
Less than 5 minutes...in and out.
But honestly... I thank God to this day that she treated me that way. It was THAT visit that led me to do my own research. I found this website and eventually my LLMD. and my LLMD i 15 minutes from my house.
God is good and can work wonders in your life if you let him. (Sorry didn't mean to preach... I just get excited!)

QUACK, QUACK, QUACK.
Sorry you were ducked.
Take this to the duck and tell her she is one beer short of a six-pack.
Quackers like soft and really soft food. Predigested.
They are allergic to hard facts as these make their bowels loose.
And many are actual clones - just burp up what they have been told in school.

Orrn--they are just as bad here in MN. The Mayo Clinic is not all it's cracked up to be...too many ill fed ducks there as well. Good luck with your hon's diagnosis...and don't give up!

Lisa.. Mayo is the REASON "no one has Lyme in MN!" They "don't do Lyme." and most clinics are associated with them... so NO diagnoses!
