Doc has his doubts i have babs, even though had a pos test 6 months ago.
does any one know if babs would go away even if not treated, or does it last for years and get worse?
thnx- will be starting treatment in 2 days!!!!

Babesiosis can be hard to knock out. You can pulse Lyme treatment but I would be hesitant to pulse Babs treatment.

Babesiosis definitely won't go away on its own. And, if you have lyme and babs, you can't get rid of the lyme if you don't also get rid of the babs.

Lenny,

Supposedly babs can resolve on it's own. But no one on here has that experience.

It will be made worse if you have lyme. Lyme and babs work together to suppress immune response.

The length of time you've had will dictate the length of time of treatment. If not adequately treated, it will come back soon.

It can get very worse. Do you have symptoms? Which strain of babs do you have ?(there are 2 main ones, but maybe more).

What treatment are you going on? What test was positive, and are you seeing a LLMD?

It can become chronic. You might check out this post, there was a good article about persistent babs:

I hope you are seeing a LLMD?

With a positive test - you definitely need treatment, and chances are you'll need more than 6 weeks. (I'm not a doc, just going on my own experience.)

Hi Lenny--

Babs will Not go away by its self--
It can and will get Much worse --

Babs Treatment usually takes the longest of
any of the treatments for co infections --

Until Babs is treated -
you wont get much better --

I am going to write a post about my
babs treatment tonight-
so look for it-- Jay--

What meds will you be taking, big lenny?

Sometimes people will pulse Quinine like that, if it causes them too much ear-ringing.

Lenny,

In my case, I was on Mepron 1 tsp 2x a day and azithromycin for 6 months. Thought it was gone. But then it came back much worse. Now I'm on twice the dosage, it's been 5 months, and I'll probably be on it another 4 or 5 months.

Yes, it is. I get a big discount off the retail price of $1300 per bottle. My last batch *only* cost $76 a bottle!! The stuff costs me $10 per day! [Eek!]

But I think I hit my yearly max co-pay so the next batch may be free!
