I had to stop treatment with abx for 5 months because of yeast. I've been back on abx along with Nystatin and Diflucan since September and today my tongue is white and I have that terrible die off taste...(at least that's what i think it is).
I'm beginning to think that I might not be able to be treated with abx, if this is going to happen as soon as I am back on meds.
My diet is completely trimmed back....eat only proteins and veggies mainly. I drink lots of lemon water.
Anyone have it? How did you trest it? Did you take break from abx? How does the body handle detoxing yeast and lyme an co's? Is that even possible?
Tell me everything about yeast.

Hi DM,
Sorry to make you work -- did you search for "candida" within this forum? You'll find literally hundreds of posts...

My sister has a bad yeast issue and she always rotated her treatments. She would use ThreeLac (although we are skeptical of that one now - not to be confused with theralac which I understand is pretty good), then rotate to garlic (I believe she swallowed a garlic clove whole) and then rotate in Grapefruit seed extract ,etc.
She did a lot of on line research and used a lot of effective natural treatments and then also uses Nystatin and Diflucan as well.
I know that rifing is helpful because we rifed for both yeast and fungus today and she got a very bad herx.

I am so much better now! It's fabulous! I can even cheat on chocolate once a week-- but following later with Candex.
Especially helpful was the CANDEX, and stopping sugar, replacing sugar with stevia, and Allimax and raw garlic. The CANDEX really worked!
I also took GSE grapefruit Seed Extract, 15 drops 3x per day with meals;, oregano oil pills and peppermint oil pills 3x/day w meals;, Diflucan once a week for a while;, Nystatin once or twice a day empty stomach for a while;, Saccharomyces Boulardii; and some Virgin Coconut Oil and Caprylic acid pills for a while, not too long; and i forget what else. I think the Saccharomyces Boulardii was quite helpful.

you can't get rid of yeast while on abx. you can only control it. systemic yeast must be treated after abx and must involve high dose vfend and acyclovir to prevent virus overgrowth. also yeast free sygar free diet and fresh probiotics, can be found in refrig at pharmacy. these are active live cultures SYSTEMIC YEAST MUST BE TREATED IF YOU EVER WANT TO GET MUCH BETTER, BUT MUST BE DONE WITHOUT ANY ABX IN YOUR SYSTEM. IT ALLOWS NORMAL FLORA TO RETURN TO YOUR SYSTEM AND REPAIR THE BODY BACK TO NORMAL. DOCDAVE

The salt/C protocol surprisingly seems to be helping me control the yeast which is a huge issue for me also. I also have lived on Diflucan and Nystatin many times. Candex wipes me out but is effective. A new one I found that seems very effective in Gentian Violet. This is for female problems. You can buy it over the counter. Stains everything so be careful if you do try to use it. Truesun

Hi True, I just received Candex today; can you tell me what you mean by "it wipes you out"? Thx.

Here is a good easy test that you can do at home to determine if your Candida is out of control.
Amphotecirn B in a nasal flush...anybody have exoerience with this?
Saw my LLMD and he suggested this for me.....he had just heard some others talk about it...at a four day training.
He just didnt have the mix for it.
I have something called "Yeast Away" it also works very good me. (like Candex)

I still didn't understand why people trade borrelia for yeast using tons of ABX when there are alternatives. As Tutu posted above, both yeast and borrelia cause VERY similar symptoms.
You may find it frustrating that when you are done with lyme and coinfection treatments, you are in fact just starting your candida treatment that may last as long as borrelia treatment (or longer, like for us at home).
In my opinion, herxes are even worse for candida than for borrelia.
In our case at home, yeast / candida / fungal infections were certainly harder to eliminate than borrelia and co-infections. They are MORE persistent.
You can read the posts here in lymenet... candida is a tough pathogen. High intake from good probiotics + strict diet + candida killers in COMBO + alcalinization + enzymes will NOT necessarily do the job. You can add metal detox to it, and still, eliminating candida for good is an art in itself.
If you add ABX to the equation, I suppose DocDave is right: no way to eliminate candida for good (have some relief, yes, but not eliminate a chronic candida infection for good).
While lyme and co-infections are now gone for about 6 months for us at home (no more treatment for 6 months), we still get a few candida infections here and then.
Combined with lyme, candida infections are worse and stronger, in my feeling. Without lyme, it is okay, the combo above makes it dormant again usually.
In my opinion, more LLMDs should consider the candida issue more seriously, because it may cause the same lyme symptoms they are trying to fight.

In the UK they have a Diflucan/ Penicillin pulsing protocol that seems to work for some. Buhner mentions it in his book that unresponsive lyme treatment may clear with Diflucan. Hmmm...
Either way, Dr. Burrascano says that treatment with Diflucan or Nystatin while on abx is important.
A holistic LLMd I know says garlic works just as well and OLE (olive leaf extract) which makes me feel quite miserable I might add.

A curious thing about eating raw garlic while having candida in the gut, is--- it doesn't smell!
I mean it doesn't make me smell like garlic. My husband is extremely sensitive, and he says there's no smell, when i ate 6 cloves one day and 11 cloves the day before. Normally he'd be extremely grossed out.
So what is happening to it?
