My insurance at work is switching to Anthem (BC/BS). I am very scared about what they are going to cover.

My current insurance with Coventry has covered anything we have needed.

My wife and I both take Bicillin shots, malarone and Biaxin. (plus a bunch of other meds)

I remember BC/BS limiting IV to 30 days, but I do not remember reading about anything else.

Does anyone have experience with them as far as the bicillin shots?

They have helped a lot, I don't know if i could afford to pay out of pocket for two of us.

Thanks for any insights you can provide.

They pay for my bicillin shots. The only thing they haven't paid for is my IV meds. They paid to have the picc line but wouldn't pay for the meds.

We got it preapproved beforehand,or so we thought. Anyway, I get 3 weeks into treatment and get a letter that they won't cover it so I had to stop them and have my picc line removed.

They left us owing $2000.00. Wish we had recorded the conversation when they said it was covered.

Other than that, they have been good about paying for my meds and I've been in treatment for 5 years. Hope this helps.

Sapphire,

That is a huge help. We only do the Bicillin so I am praying that they will cover ours as well.

Our LLMD stopped taking insurance this year, but our meds were still covered.

I am glad to hear this may continue...

Glad this helped. Actually, I'm surprised that they've paid for my bicillin for 2 years. I've been expecting any time for them to stop but not a word.

By the way, bicillin is what turned the corner for me. None of the orals did much for me and it took a while with the bicillin but it has made such a difference in my life. Hope it does the same for you and your wife.

B and M, I have found them deceptive. They told me they would pay for my IVs in which I had so called unlimited coverage. I have been fighting them for months because they said they would but then switched it to only thirty days. Also, the doctor I see says they are his biggest problem insurance company.

Maybe they won't give you a hard time with the injections.

Good Luck, Truesun

I think BC/BS differs from state to state nad all depending what policy you have.

They paid for my Bicillin shots, a little problem here and there. Dr had to send them something. B/F I got my picc put in, they told me their policy was 28 days, so far I'm on 3rd month, and they are still paying.

I have this insurance, and they won't cover my Bicillin shots. Although they have paid for almost two years of Mepron.

But, like someone said, what insurance covers is highly variable from State to State, and from employer.

So, I know someone else in the same state, but with a different employer, and they paid for Bicillin shots
