I am currently being treated for Lyme with 400mg of doxy per day. I have been digging around and it seems as if Candida Overgrowth can cause many, if not all of the same symptoms as Lyme.

From what I have read, traditional medicine does not believe in a systemic Candida Overgrowth, rather this theory is adopted by alternative medicine.

I tested negative on the Western Blot for Lyme and all co-infections, but my doctor put me on abx after hearing my story. I have had recurring yeast symptoms, sometimes severe, since the age of 18, but I did no mention it to my LLMD because I thought it was irrelevant.

I am starting to wonder if this could just be a Candida issue alone. Maybe it would be best to quit abx, stay on my Lyme diet and see what happens?

You can get yeast overgrowth from the Lyme

shutting down the immune system.

And you can get yeast overgrowth from taking

antibiotics. Yeast is highly associated with Lyme

as is loads of other organisms. Did they give

you something to prevent/kill it? I take Nystatin

4 a day. Many take Diflucan. Many have also

found when they got copies of WB it did have

specific bands that were dismissed by doc.s who

have not seen the latest literature. Many Lyme

docs say now if you have at least one specific

band on WB you may have LYME. So I would get

those results as well as other blood works which

may give you clues to lyme. Good Luck.

There is a good detox program for candida albicans...http://www.eastwest-mn.com/

I have the book and it's detoxing the body for yeast seems helpful in general for Lymies. Don't discount the Lyme dx but treat your body for symptoms as well as the yeast. There has been REALLY recent discussion on this board for utilizing bentonite clay and psyllium husks for detox

the only difference---and added ingredient for yeast is to add caproyl oil (available at nat. food stores). I have yet to do it all...

But for XMAS...im getting a blender and trying the protocol. And i've only treated 5 mos with abx and never had a visible yeast infection but believe its part of the probs we face. = )

Also, a very good friend of mine suffered disabiliting symptoms from candida albicans when she was in HS, now 15 years later she believes she might have lyme.

Acupuncture---seriously scheduled, with the right abx and change in diet will do the trick for both. And i sauna and use cholestryamine and chinese herbs. Do what works...that's what i say.

Here is a good easy test that you can do at home to determine if your Candida is out of control.

It works.

Did the test bigstan. Nasty looking glass of water. Looks like yeast is pretty bad.

Can you get yeast under control while taking abx? I've stopped abx for over 10 days now to try and get yeast under control. No improvements so far.

IF you take Diflucan and/or Nystatin AND follow the DIET! ..

I've stopped abx for over 10 days now to try and get yeast under control. No improvements so far.

What are you taking to kill the yeast? Are you following the diet carefully??

I'm taking nystatin 2 pills, 3 times a day. Lots of metagenics probiotics (proboulardi and acidopholus), yogurt and absolutely strict on the diet.

All I eat is baked organic chicken or fish, lots of steamed veggies, tiny bit of brown rice once a day. Lots of lemon water, oil of orgeno.

What were your WB results? Did you have any positive bands? Did you have a tick bite?

It could be both. If you have candida, you should be doing things to treat it - coconut oil is good. So is garlic and onions. Medicines - Diflucan and Nystatin. Stay away from simple carbs. Etc.

Please mention it to your LLMD.

That is my story there. Six, I've read a lot of your posts and any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I believe I had candida before the lyme, just my sense.

Now with lyme gone, I have more candida/yeast/fungus/mold/parasite issues still to address. Abx makes it worse.

Also, when we adjust the terraine in our body, and remove lyme or get the load down of another pathogen, all changes and more overgrowth of candida can occur.

That's why many on this board are focused on detox protocols. Impt. to learn to manage symptoms.

I would think it's pretty accurate .. unless you DON'T have yeast in your mouth! (very possible)
