First does it really help your hair loss?
I have heard that's why some loose their hair, due to non-stop abx?

I am willing to try it, but how much??

And what brand have you had success with?

Thanks for responding,

I have been taking Biotin, 5 milligram dose, 2x/day, for a long time, a year or two or three.

It's a B vitamin which is destroyed by antibiotics.

The pills are excellent. My hair is growing longer.
If i ran out of pills, i can see the difference in a day or two in my fingernails, which start breaking off shorter. Then when i resume taking the pills, the nails get stronger and longer in a day or two.

Brand--- i forget what brands i've used, but currently i've got Now brand.

PS But it didn't restore hair to areas where the hair was, seemingly, permanently destroyed, like underarms.

Hey, destroyed underarm hair is a good thing, right?!

Yes, probably, but it is from a disease.
Biotin does not help with underarm.

For me any brand works, now I take 7,500 mcg
megabiotin from vitamin shoppe.

I notice that my hair is falling out when I forget to take it for more than four days.
It does not work for my nails at all.

This is sounding good to me already...

So megabiotin, is that the brand name I am assuming?

I am really excited to see if it will help my hair grow back quicker, thanks!

try Jarrosil (activated silica) at Swansons vitamins - it works for nails, hair, connective tissue- Biotin is also a regular for me. I may skip everything else - but these two!

Take care.

I used Xymogen's RegeneMax (Silicon) for hair loss per my LLMD. I took 5mg x 2 day. I always had times
when I would loose hair before I started treatment
but when I started an aggressive abx protocol I had much more hair loss. This help a lot but for me
it was the Bicillin shots that ended the hair loss
and gave me my full, wavy hair back.

I take biotin and have for many years. I use muscle testing to determine my dose and I only need about 200 mcg per day.

I've taken twin labs and GNC but I have to cut the tablets or capsules down in order to get the smaller dose.

If your hair loss is caused by biotin deficiency I can see where it would help but if that is not the cause, then I'm not so sure it would help.

This is a very good site for info on vitamins.

Signs and symptoms

Signs of overt biotin deficiency include hair loss and a scaly red rash around the eyes, nose, mouth, and genital area. Neurologic symptoms in adults have included depression, lethargy, hallucination, and numbness and tingling of the extremities.

The characteristic facial rash, together with unusual facial fat distribution, has been termed the "biotin deficient facies" by some investigators (8).

Individuals with hereditary disorders of biotin metabolism resulting in functional biotin deficiency often have similar physical findings as well as evidence of impaired immune system function and increased susceptibility to bacterial and fungal infections (12).

Lots more info on biotin in that link.
