I'm wondering if I am doing the right thing with my eyes.
The inflamation is so bad the eye doc decided to give 3 kenalog shots in the eye. It helped with the amount of black spots I normally see but people are saying you can not use steriods with Lyme.
If you are not supposed to use steriods what can you use?

You already got these shots, right? Sounds like they've helped. That's good.
I'm assuming you have lyme or you'd not be here.
Are you being treated by a LLMD?
The thing is, in an emergency -- to save a life, eyes or ears, steroids may be necessary and can work as part of the plan - - along WITH antibiotics to be sure the lyme is addressed. Steroids should never be given to a lyme patient without specific pre-treatment and concurrent treatment for lyme.
From here on, you might do best with an eye specialist recommended by your LLMD so that they can coordinate your care.
Bottom, line: if absolutely required - and there is no other option & with the right precautions - steroids can save vision. Lyme must be considered, though, so that this does not boomerang. -

We have seen literally dozens of patients with Lyme who were initially treated with steroids who reported a dramatic worsening rather than improvement as would be expected. Dr. Joseph Burrascano has coined the expression, ' Steroid Disasters, ' to describe these patients.

Corticosteroids can last in the body for months, usually around 6 months. In many bacterial infections such as LD, damage can be done.
. . . More severe illness also results from other causes of weakened defenses, such as from severe stress, immunosuppressant medications, and severe intercurrent illnesses.
This is why steroids and other immunosuppressive medications are absolutely contraindicated in Lyme. This also includes intraarticular steroids. . . .

. . . More evidence has accumulated indicating the severe detrimental effects of the concurrent use of immunosuppressants including steroids in the patient with active B. burgdorferi infection.
Never give steroids or any other immunosuppressant to any patient who may even remotely be suffering from Lyme, or serious, permanent damage may result, especially if given for anything greater than a short course.
If immunosuppressive therapy is absolutely necessary, then potent antibiotic treatment should begin at least 48 hours prior to the immunosuppressants.

- There are various ways to reduce inflammation. Magnesium, Fish or Krill Oil, Curcumin top this list. Stinging Nettle, too, is very valuable to dampen the cytokine storm that occurs with lyme.

Yes, I recently tested positive for Lyme. No co-infections.
Before I went to a Lyme doc, another doc treated me with steriods for 30 days when he did not know what else to do for the pain all thru me and the inflamation in my eyes.
Then after that my eye doc did the shot in my eye because I was loosing my eyesight due to the inflamation.
Both of those happened before I got mny positive results back.
My Lyme doc does not want to start Lyme treatment until he finds out about my gallbladder, because he said antibiotics directly effect the GB.

- Does your lyme doctor know about the steroids? That is really important. You might call and ask, "considering the steroids" if there is something else you can be doing now to cover the bases while you wait on gallbladder assessment.
Two to consider are Olive Leaf Extract and/or Allicin capsules. You can't just not treat lyme if it is there. Gallbladder or not, there are safe ways to work around that.
When are your gallbladder tests to be done? Tomorrow, I hope.
When is your next appointment scheduled? Soon, I hope. Don't wait for this to just come around, be sure to stay with this. -

Yes, he knows. He wasn't happy about it but, I had no choice at the time.
I had not seen the Lyme doc yet, this happened like 6 weeks before I saw him.
I had a pic line Sep a year ago when another doc was just shooting in the dark trying to help. That did not go well.
So my Lyme doc is considering giving me treatment by IV (no pic line, I had lot's of problems) and setting up a home health program.
I am so sick with the GB at the moment, I think he is right not to do anything until he consults with Gastro doc and finds out weather or not the GB is coming out.
If I take anything with oil, like fish oil I get BAD GB attact. If I take Doxy I get a bad attack, Rocephine willmake me sick too, everything effects my GB it seemS.
I'll check on the allicin and see what that is.

- Allicin is sort of a strong garlic extract. I'd not advise doing anything on your own, though.
If your gallbladder is that testy right now, you'd need expert advice - even/especially with supplements.
But one of the best supplements to help the gallbladder is Rhubarb.
Do you have any NDs around? (Naturopathic Doctor) Would your LLMD know any who are also LL? There may be a way to keep it. -

Hi - I got rid of my Lyme eye symptoms by drinking mangosteen juice - it worked right away, and continues to work. It's an anti-inflammatory antioxidant juice.
There are lots of brands. I drink the Ultra one with 70 minerals added. If you try it, go slowly and drink a lot of water too, as it can be powerful.
