your treatment at all. It seems that I have gotten
a resistant something in my sinuses and I believe
it might be time to get back on shots. I worry
about resistance when we are on so many
antibiotics and the shots always helped me from
getting sick in the first place. Any thoughts
or research please. Thank you VERY much!

Hi Amelia,
When you speak of allergy shots do you mean something like a Kenalog injection? This is a steroid that treats inflammation caused by allergies. Not many doctors use this kind of treatment any longer, it's kinda old school, but I hear of it every now and then. If this is what you were referring to, don't take the shot. There are other safer/better alternatives for treating allergies.
You were probably referring to the standard allergy shots. When given over time, they can help reduce your sensitivity to the allergens and relieve some of your symptoms.
If you are struggling with allergies, you should consider seeing an allergist. If they are recommending the allergy shots and they've helped you in the past then you should consider retreating.
I don't see how allergy treatment would possibly interfere with your Lyme treatment (besides helping you feel better and recover faster). Allergies can be serious, they need to be addressed. Be open and honest with your LLMD, GP, and the allergist. Hopefully, with your help, they will be able to work together to give you the best care possible.

Thanks Sammy. I do the standard allergy shots but
stopped when my doc llmd said they might be too
hard on my immune system. The Allergist relented
but said that he did not know of research that
said they were compromising to the immune system.
I just had a wicked sinus infection and I
typically never get those when I have
shots and believe me- I am allergic to
everything under the sun- mold etc. That is
why I am thinking it might be smart to start up
again. If anyone has any suggestions- I greatly
appreciate it!

Take the Allergie Immune therapy instead. Check the threads here on lymenet.

My husband gets allergy shots every 2-3 weeks. He feels much better with the shots.

Yes I get allergy shots every 3-4 weeks. I WOULD get a sinus infection if I do not get them. I even has sinus surgery a few years ago to remove pollyps beacuse of the alergies.
