I have been getting this sensation of pins and needles and itching in my chest and neck area after IV Rocephin. Is this an allergy. If I take Benadryl will that help the situation?
Has anyone had this experience?

If you are concerned about an allergic reaction you should contact your doctor. It is not good for patients to try and guess and this could turn into a serious situation.
Let us know what the doc said!
Hope it gets better soon!

It's something you need to discuss with your doctor. My husband itched all over when he did Rocephin (four months worth). He took Benadryl to help and we kept a close eye on the symptoms with an Epipen handy. Not ideal, but we wanted the benefit of the Rocephin.

These were the symptoms I had right before I had an anaphylactic reaction to Rocephin.
I don't mean to scare you, but just to let you know it can be really serious, just as Tincup says.
Hope that's not the case.

My LLMD says that itching is a sign of allergic reaction. I'm on IM Rocephin and he gave me benedryl and told me to keep it with me when I get my injections. He also said that you aren't likely to have a reaction the first, third, fourth time etc. He said it can come out of nowhere after the first few or months later.
But he did say to take the benedryl at first sign of ITCHING.. so that makes me think "allergic reaction"

So true, icky...I didn't have my reaction until my third month on Rocephin. So something to always be on the lookout for.
