Why can these infectons cause this or is it the abx? My great grandfathers and grandfathers all had full heads of heair when they passed away. My father also has all his hair.
I am noticing a hair line that was never there before getting sick....
What next?

I lost lots of hair. It grew back when I went through treatment. I lost it prior to treatment from the Lyme, but I believe (am not sure) that some meds can cause hair loss.
Also, low thyroid can.

Mine's falling out, too. Lovely.
The hair loss is always worse when on Mepron, for me. And it grows back when off of Mepron.
But - I'm in a relapse and not on Mepron at the moment, yet still losing a ton of hair ...
So who knows whether it's the result of infection or meds or something else?
Have you checked your thyroid?

Yes, my thyroid is struggling so my doctor gave me Iodomere to take.

Thyroid might be the cause then - and that would be an indirect result of the infections.
Hopefully getting your thyroid situation under control will help.

My hair fell out too. LLMD said it was due to the infection. All has grown back. Evening primrose oil is helpful.

I was just diagnosed with acute lyme. Hair loss is my only symptom. Blood work shows that it is a recent infection and was put on 21 days of doxy. Within the first 24 hours of doxy, may hair came out like crazy. Lessened the next night. My hair is still coming out and I only have 3 days left. Does that mean that the doxy is not working? or do I have to finish the doxy and then I should see results? So confused, scared, and frustrated.

Aside from what has already been mentioned, diabetes can cause hair loss so you might want to have an A1C test just to check your average level over the past few months.
alyssa - sounds like you are not seeing an LLMD (lyme literate medical doctor). My understanding is that it is not possible to tell if your infection is new or older by a Western Blot. Lyme test interpretation is a bit different than many other infections and it is not unusual to show only a positive IgM with an older infection.
Three weeks of doxy will not be enough treatment plus you need to be checked for co-infections. Sometimes they are diagnosed clinically becausae tests are not reliable. Also, most non-LLMD's do not give a high enough dose so your dose will likely be too low. You may want to start another thread asking some questions about your situation so as not to divert this thread.
In my opinion, it is risky business to be treated by a non-LLMD, especially if you have a relatively new infection. You can go to the seeking doctor section of lymenet and put your location in the subject line and ask for help in getting a list of doctors that are close to you. http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/forum/2?
