I posted earlier that I am going to pulse it (one week on and one week off) while still taking Doxy and Ceftin.
I start tomorrow.
Was wondering what you've experienced while taking Flagyl so I know what to expect.

It gave me my first herx. Was on about day 3.
I took it continually for 60 days.

Pulsing it shouldn't be so bad. I took it everyday. The worst for me was the depression. Really BAD.

I did IV Flagyl for 6 weeks in a good dose and I liked it alot. It was rough for a good two or three weeks and then it felt benefit from it.
I did end up having an amnesia attack and episode that the doctors thought might come from it but not positive.
I took it daily but was trying to use it for anit protozoan affects as well as for cysts

My daughter took Flagyl and had no problems whatsoever. She was on 1000 mg daily.

I just started taking it 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. I started at 250 mg/day and on my next 2 weeks will do 500 mg/day.
I noticed increased joint pain when I took it that has gotten better on my 2 weeks off.
I was nervous about it and am still a little nervous about increasing my dose. But really, so far, it was not bad.

I've been pulsing Flagyl and take it 3 days a week. I've noticed incrased joint and muscle pain, but so far pretty tolerable. Good luck with it.

I started at a higher dosage, but then read a suggestion that it might be useful at a low dose like 250 mg/day for some of us. Since I was on several other antibiotics, I tried the low dose. It still helped. One advantage of this was that I could do the dose just once a day, at night, which meant that I didn't have to experience the herx (which included extreme sleepiness) while awake. I think you can also take 500 mg once a day, meaning 500 mg at night, for the same reasons.

I started Flagyl today and so far nothing major, just some mild nausea from the 1st 500mg I took.

I have been reading up on Flagyl and pulsing.
I have read so many various ways to Pulse. What do you think is best? Or correct and why?
I found some who do 3 days a month. Some who pulse 7 days a month. Some who pulse every other week. Some pulse by doing 3 days a week every week. Some do 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. SOme do it every day for months.
SO???
What is the best way to Pulse Flagyl?

my doc has me on one 250 mg pill for two weeks, then off for two, a month.
