Interesting. The Lymerix vaccine was pulled from the U.S. market in 2002 but I think it is still being used elsewhere. I don't know anything about its popularity nor do I know if it is recommended.
My question would be, if the vaccine doesn't protect against the whole stew of tick bacteria, is there much sense in a Lyme vaccine?

It makes sense to me. Many LLMD refer to lyme disease as the "gate keeper" of tick born infections.
Many of the tick born infections are fairly easy to get rid of when lyme is not involved.

Lyme vaccine for humans or the rodent population? it doesn't say.
When speaking of VACCINES: They should focus more on breaking the cycle of transmission rather than creating more human vaccine fiascos.
Evidently research is being done to this end re: lyme. Hearing this gave me a brief flicker of hope.
At 45:00 minutes in this broadcast, a caller poses a question about immunizing wildlife through feed to decrease transmission to humans.
to which guest, Lonnie King, mentions research I hadn't heard about:
In order to prevent disease, and decrease population of certain wildlife
"cutting-edge" research is being done, particularly to do with lyme where vaccines were unsuccessful in humans.
Private companies (names not cited) and the CDC are conducting research to reproduce protein characteristics that cause the antibody response,
putting it in food like rice, which is spread over a large area, which animals/rodents then eat, creating an immunity in the animals.
He goes on to say that because it is so cheap it could be used over larger areas,
like in Africa with the plague. It could potentially have a huge impact.
If the blood hosts don't carry the disease, the ticks and other insects don't disseminate it to humans.

AT LEAST 2000 people filed lawsuits against Smith/Kline because they say the vaccine GAVE THEM lyme!!!! That is why band 31 ( and more??) is NOT tested for at Quest and LabCorp labs.
It is too closely tied to the failed vaccine.
I would NEVER get a vaccine for lyme. No way.

Breaking the cycle....not something to be sorry about in my book. I do realize that some people have a problem with curbing animal populations even though they are out-of-control.
I can't find more info on the research. The guest spoke more of vaccinating the rodent population, creating Immunity in them, I have no problem with that given that.
I had only listened to the show. I'll have to check out the comments.
