I have xanax for anxiety but I'm wondering if there is a better choice. Are their other meds that last longer?

Funny you should ask. I have some Ativan taht is for as needed to sleep. I rarely use it becuase i really does no help. Friends and family keep telling me to get xanax and how much better it is. I like having something on hand for the really bad night. Just have not been able to find the right one and i want to try xanax. Seems the docs want to give me near everything else except that. Not sure why.

They are both in the same class of drugs but I think klonopin has a longer half life than xanax.
One may work better than the other or longer than the other I think. I was wondering what people's experiences have been.

Xanax works better for me, but Klonopin does last longer.

I use them both, Xanax works faster in my opinion and Klonopin lasts longer. I use the Klonopin for sleep and the Xanax as needed, I'd like to be off of them, but theres just no way right now.

I think klonopin is harder to get off of .. if you ever get "addicted."

Three months ago I had my first anxiety attack ever in my 56 years of living. My LLMD prescribed me Xanax. I was very reluctant to try it because of all the negative things I've heard about it being addictive, etc.
Thank God for this medicine. When I get an attack out of no where, or when the pain hits me all at once, this medicine keeps me sane.
It's not a pain pill, no, but when I get pain all over my body Xanax calms me down and helps make the pain more bearable.
Never tried Klonopin so can't say anything about it one way or the other.

I had this conversation with my sleep doctor recently. I take Clonazapam (generic Klonapin).
He said to stay with this drug as it also helps with muscles spasms, which I have many and chronic pain, which I have, too.
Any Benzo must be tapered down not stopped cold turkey.
I take 1mg at bedtime to help me sleep.
If you read up on Cheney's protocols, he recommends this to help heal the brain.
