My doctor, after giving me a 20-minute lecture about how he didn't believe in Lyme, sent me a LETTER, stating that he had consulted with the Allegheny County Health Dept, and was told that there have been NO confirmed cases of Lyme in Allegheny County.
I KNOW people who have or have had Lyme here--but they were all diagnosed by LLMD's OUT of Allegheny County.
I was wondering if anyone could point me to some data showing that there are Lyme-carrying deer ticks in either Allegheny County or Southern Butler County, Pennsylvania?
I talked with an entomologist a couple of years ago, who told me that Pittsburgh IS a Lyme-endemic area. But I can't remember his name, let alone how to find him or where he works.
Does he think ticks just stop at the borders where he lives and don't cross that imaginary line?
Your county figures are probably lower than most because of IDIOTS like him that are saying there is no Lyme there and therefore, they are not checking for it.
UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!
He has had 30 years to learn about it... what a BIG TOAD he is... and look at the lives he is ruining!
UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!
Bless the children and the adults too if that is the kind of medical "experts" there.

OK. NOW I'm mad!
Ask duck head if he thinks the water supply in PA, with its free antibiotics and other drugs, is helping to cure Lyme? If so, you may go to one of the free outlets to get your meds.
I will print all out and send it to him. If I hear back, I'll let you know what he says.

I'll bet a lot of money you'll never hear from him on this unless you press him. He'll probably have steam coming out of his ears. Posted by Taximom (Member # 23176) on :
I don't know--I got this letter from him out of the blue, so he is obviously thinking about it. Seems to me he could have just given me the scrip for the antibiotic, and not followed up with the letter--he knows I only come in to the office for something REALLY bad, and he knows I am anti-antibiotic.
The whole thing seems very, very strange to me.

Such is the political world of Lyme disease.

Damn, I wish I could find the info for Pennsylvania Lyme statistics by county. Cannot find it now but if I do I will post.
Beside, I live right next door and my husband has Lyme and I have Rocky Mt. Spotted Fever. And...duh, you can live in Allegheny county and travel to other counties and get LD. But it is ridiculous to think there are no disease-infected ticks in Agh Co when they are all around.
I'll try to help, but you really need to print out a boat load of Lyme statistics and give HIM a 20 minute lecture.

I live in Crawford County, just north of you and every doc I saw in my area told me the same exact thing that there is no lyme in my county BUT my vet had to report 59 cases last year alone with dogs infected with LD......Hmmmmm!

That is very helpful--thank you all so much! I'll keep checking back in case someone finds a county-by-county site.

Click on the state of PA in the map to get to a county level version. Mouse over (put the cursor on) the county you are in to see the numbers.
