Did your cycles of fever change, or become closer together when you started treatment for Lyme?

Never had much fever.. but I would think this could happen as a herxheimer response.

One of the "classic Lyme" symptoms (quoting the B guidelines) is a repeating fever about every 4 weeks, in the evening... I have those, but since starting treatment they not only stick to that pattern but I also have random fevers in addition to it. The "worst" is always around that original pattern, but I get semi-high fevers otherwise, too... I've heard that when you no longer have those patterns of fever it means your Lyme is going/is gone, so the fact that you never had any makes me wonder.

Elizabeth,

You're the first person I see post about the relapsing fever. I have it too. Around the 15th-21st of every month, I run fever. All of my symptoms worsen when I'm on that week. I dread it every month because I'm usually in bed the entire time and can barely move.

It's interesting to know that when the fevers let up, the Lyme bacteria are gone.

Many ppl with lyme do not have fever. As a matter of fact many of us have below normal temps as the spirochetes like the lower temperature.

I run fevers in the late afternoon and evening. They are pretty much low grade and run about 99-100. When I am in treatment they tend to get higher, especially when I treat Babesia.

Burrascano guidelines, Oct. 2008, pg. 26:

"CLASSIC LYME (Bb infection)-

Afternoon fevers, often unnoticed- most Lyme patients have subnormal temperatures in the AM but rise
to 99+ by early to mid-afternoon. No obvious sweats."

"4-week cycles- Bb activity, and thus symptoms, wax and wane in a cycle that repeats roughly every
four weeks. This cycle, if clear, can guide your treatments."

Yep, I have a temp in the 97's in the morning and run fever in the late afternoon, pretty much every four weeks.

All of you that don't run fever are lucky. I know "lucky" is not really a great word but running fever is sort of like a herx and it sucks!

I have had a low grade fever (99.1-100.5) every time i've seen my regular nurse for routine visits. However, yeah, my body temp is below normal now (97) and i get feverish in the pm which is probably Babs related.

Once my whole body went into myoclonic jerks and tremors for an hour and a half. During that time, my body temp rose from 96.4 to 98.6. I think the body fights infection at high temps, not sure about low tho.

I also get those broken blood vessels on either side of my nose when it's really persistent fever.

Hope this all normalizes with tx for everyone!

I love how my doctors for years told me that my low temperature 96-97 degrees was my "normal" temperature.

Idiots.

The only time I ever had fevers was when I treated for Babs for 2 months. I would get a low grade fever every afternoon. Other than that ever since getting LD, my temp has been below normal.

I think Babs is what causes cycling fevers.
