About an hour ago i was in the bathroom and saw something on my chin so tried to wash it off. but it's not something that can wash off. it looks like a hickey on my chin. It is NOT a hickey, i know that for certain.
it's freaking me out. not sure if it is a bartonella rash or some other kind of rash. i don't seem to have it anywhere but on the very bottom to the under-side of my chin.
i took a photo but can't figure out how to post it.
thanks for any insight!

Laura,
Is it fuzzy and round? Just asking as my kids use to get a rash that looked like what I described and it itched too (on the chin). Turned out to be ringworm and an anti-fungal creme over 2 weeks time cleared it up.
Maybe if you can get the picts to come up more folks could chime in.

Hi Stacy, do you know how i can post photos? it's not itchy. i would not have even know it was there if i didn't see it in the mirror.

This is strange that you would post this as I have some on me. I have never had anything like this before.
Mine are under my arm and there's 3 long places in a row. Then I have another one on my other shoulder. It's like blood at the top of the skin. Not a hickey. LOL
I wondered about bartonella rash but don't really know what they look like. I was thinking they were more like stretch marks.
If I can get a pic I will post it if I can figure out how. I would like to know what it is, too. Any ideas?

AH HA! The old hickey excuse! I wish I had a nickel for every time I needed one! And THAT is a GOOD one!
Actually, I get one (purpura) about the size of my thumb print every now and then... right between my lower lip and the pointy out part of my chin. Just a bit higher up than yours... and dead center.
MY opinion is it comes to us because of Babesia. Check out the symptoms below... and see the part that says..
"bleeding under the skin or a rash (purpura)"
It should hang around for a week to two weeks if it is like mine... but sometimes it is only 4 or 5 days or so.
Babesia symptoms...
"... lethargy, loss of interest in food, and a gradual loss of body condition especially evident around the eyes and along the spine.
Other symptoms are: upper respiratory problems - coughing or labored breathing, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, ulcerative stomatitis (sores in the mouth), edema (swelling), abdominal swelling (ascites),
Bleeding under the skin or a rash (purpura), low White Blood Cell count (thrombocytopenia), clotting problems, joint swelling, back pain, seizures, weakness, increased liver enzyme, low Platelet count, hyper reflective eyes, enlarged lymph nodes, enlarged spleen, septic shock, depression.
>>> Keep in mind the possible symptoms listed above are for a DOG.. not a human... but you get the point.<<<<
Also I am not a doctor and this is NOT medical advise.

Here is a photo with the purpura on the upper left of the photo.
When purpura spots are very small (<1cm in diameter), they are called petechiae or petechial haemorrhages.
I call them chia pets.
Larger, deeper purpura are referred to as ecchymoses or bruising.
Glad WC came by to tell ya how to post the picts. I am not sure what that is but definitely different then what my kids had. I would say Bart. too but I have Bart and I got a ton of spider veins not rashes.

oh wow, i wonder if it is from the babesia. the babesia flared back up so i have just started back on mepron and zithromax about two weeks ago. maybe this is a herx reaction?
i know it looks like a bruise, but there is absolutely no pain involved so i can't imagine it's a bruise. also it was not there when i woke up. i went out shopping and came home and saw it.
i didn't bump into anything while i was out.
and i am more than positive it is not a hickey;)

I think Tincup has it nailed. I suggested it was from babesia.. but didn't have the purpura name.
Could very well be from a herx.

how very odd of a symptom! compared the all the others, i'll take this any day. no discomfort or pain!
Tincup, do you recall how long it takes to go away? mine faded quite a bit over night.
thanks for everyones input!!

I have had the same thing, just a little smaller and a little lower on my chin (the underside) at least 3 times in the past few months.
I have no idea what causes it either. Everyone says it looks like a bruise but there is no way that I got a bruise, 3 times in the exact same place.
My Fry smear was NEG for Bart and I have never been tested for Babs. I don't think that I have it though, as I don't have the symptoms. Definitely have Bart symptoms though.
Tx is Biaxin, Plaquenil and Minocycline.
I have tried to pin point it on either my use of Oil of Oregano, GSE or Diflucan but can't nail it down exactly. When I am looking for it, it's not there. When I least expect it, it shows up.
Good luck! If you find a pattern, please let me know.

oh wow, how strange this is! I see my LLMD in a couple of weeks so will see if he knows what is causing it. it seems so minor that i'll bet some peop;le don't even think to mention it to their LLMD.
right now i'm being treated with IV rocephin for the lyme and zith/mepron for babesia, so it seems it would be an odd bart symptom to come out given that infection isn't being treated now.
but who knows with this thing??!!
i'll let you know if my LLMD has any ideas.

Are you injesting must Splenda/sucralose? My father had the same type of rash caused by too much Splenda. He stopped Splenda, and the rash went away alomst immediately. Of course, he was using it by the mega-spoonfulls on lots of stuff.
I think some LD patiets may be sensitive to Splenda. It tears up my GI tract. I think it has to do with the fact that Splenda can be recognized as a toxin by our already toxin-taxed LD bodies and cannot handle the extra toxic effect of all the chlorine in Splenda.

no splenda here. am on no sugar diet/whole foods/no processed food diet. really the only sugar i get is from fruit and sometimes some honey. interesting though about the splenda.
