My doctor currently has me on 10 mg of Zolpidem to help me sleep at night. I am usually able to get to sleep at night, but vibrations in my head and neck always wake me at night.

I can usually sleep about 5 to 5 1/2 hours at night, then I wake up and sleep is over.

Is there anything out there that will actually help with getting 7 to 8 hours of sleep? I am exhausted by the time the weekend comes around.

I'd appreciate any thoughts for sure. Thanks much!

Will

I can't take drugs for sleep because they make me emotionally mentally worse. I take an herb called corydallis and it works nearly as well as a drug. You can also take it when you wake up during the night and you will not be groggy the next day. You can goggle it online to get more information. There are places you can order it online. Zhang has it in his Herbsom but it is more expensive although extremely effective combination of herbs. I have read that it works as well as sleeping pills. I have had insomnia since I was 12, 50 years, and wish I had known about the herb a long time ago. Everything else wears off or gives me a headache. Other natural things to try are L tryptophan, melatonin, valerian, scull cap, camomile, 5HTP,
Hopps. . . don't work for me.

Lyrica helps you get to the deep stages of sleep according to a talk by Dr. H at the LIA conference. I took it with Lunesta. The Lunesta got me to sleep, and the Lyrica made it so I slept well and all night.

Neurontin helps too. (similar to lyrica)

I take trazodone and ambien for sleep. I also take a 3mg time released melatonin.

I sleep very well with that combo.

I take lunesta and klonopin for sleep. Before adding Klonopin, I would wake about 3 Am & have to take more lunesta to fall asleep again in 1-3 hours.

After I added the Klonopin I generally sleep through the night. The comments about Klonopin and weight gain have me concerned though. It might be a good idea to look into Lyrica & Lunesta, as sixgoofy said.

Theanine + 5HTP

The natural way baby!!!

If you have serious insomnia problems get your cortisol levels checked asap.

Since you are already taking ambien, maybe you can take 3/4 when you go to sleep and save the 1/4 for when you wake up early. I did something similar a few years ago and would keep it by my bedstand for when I woke up. It got me thru until abx treatment took care of the sleep issue.

I take a full ambien going to sleep and when I wake take another half. My Dr writes me for 45 tabs a month. Nothing else works.

Ambien didn't work well for me, but a low dose of trazadone was amazing.
