Hello everyone,

I figured I would let the board know that I recently had a beautiful baby, and so far she is healthy and happy.
I wanted to post this because I know many people have concerns about pregnancy and lyme. So, please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Did you treat prior to pregnancy? During?

Thanks for the update and congratulations.

I treated my bart, babs and lyme very aggressively for years before I decided to have a baby. Although, I have never been totally symptom free, I got the OK from my llmd and was carefully monitored. I used bicillin 3x week throughout the whole pregnancy and had her blood cord and placenta tested. I also made a trip to Dr J in CT and he examined her and he believes that I have a disease free baby.
As for myself, I did not have a horrible lyme relapse after birth, but the doc has me on meds anyway.
I credit my wonderful llmd's for my healthy baby.

savebabe,

Thank you so much for sharing. I, like a few other women here, am hoping to have a baby once I am deemed "ready" by my LLMD.

So is Bicillin the only thing you took during pregnancy? I know some women also take Zithromax during pregnancy.

Did you feel your babesia was in remission before you got pregnant? I'm assuming the baby also tested negative for babesia?

Congrats!!! [Smile]

Yes...some women do take zith as well, but I experience hearing loss from that medication, so I just took the bicillin.

As far as the babesia, I made sure that I aggressively treated that before getting pregnant. Dr J said that babies born with babs are very ill and could be critical. I also treated bart a few times before pregnancy, because unfortunately meds for bart are not safe for pregnant women.

So far, all of her tests were negative, especially the biopsies of the placenta that are more accurate.

I will continue to watch for symptoms, but I am very optimistic.

Thanks for answering my questions.

So did you feel that your babesia was under control before the pregnancy? As in, you had stopped having any babesia symptoms?

I'm hoping to get to that point...but by the same token, once I'm off my babesia meds and trying to get pregnant, if a babesia symptom pops up (like one night of sweats), I'm not sure if I should freak out or not.

I hope I won't be in that situation, but I'm also worried about what I would do if I was pregnant, and all of a sudden, started sweating again, or having violent nightmares again (one of my babs symptoms). The thought is scary to me.

Overall I am optimistic, but that thought worries me.

That is so good to hear and congratulations on the addition to the family.

My daughter has resigned herself to not having kids. This is sad to me. I know she wants kids so much but is too afraid.

I am a doll collector and I recently bought a reborn doll(look on ebay). They look just like real babies.

Anyway, it broke my heart to watch her hold that doll. I knew what she was thinking by the look on her face. I actually regretted getting that doll after that.

That you so much for sharing. I will definitely tell her it can be done.

SaveBaby, congratulations on the birth of your new healthy child!

I too had very healthy babies...but later found that there were other things I did pass onto them, only to be found out in their puberty years.

These things are heavy metals, candida, chemicals from pesticides, chemicals like asparatame..(in diet products). Their load was so high, and their immune system was working on over load so they appeared ok...until the toxic load was too great over time!!! Their immune systems were on overload!

They started to aquire ADD type symptoms, and then odd symptoms that appeared "lyme like". One actually did have lyme but the other did not! With lyme treatment initially, and finally detox...symptoms abated! Candida is the biggest culpret for my kids!!!! Creates brain fog.

Many parents are boggled by what is happening ;health wise with their teens...this is when it starts to show in many kids...12 years and up!

Then everything went down hill big time quickly.

With all you have learned so far about health, please be wise in proceeding in what you give you child...ie...vaccinations (spread them out to avoid mercury overload), and watch all processed foods and give no asparatame please.

All children, not just from lyme parents, are at risk in this next generation from the accumulated effects of what the parents and grandparents ingested or were exposed to.

I have been now doing the allergie Immune therapy to address these things with my teens... with great success. I only wish I knew at their birth what I am telling you about what you put into your kids...

Watch using plastic bottles and heating them in to microwave....that was a big mistake for me!

I'm not trying to alarm you or take away your great joy...just want to make you aware that what we are all dealing with is not just lyme...lyme is the tipping point that grabs our attention, but the root is related to a build up of accumulated toxins that can be eliminated or lessened! I believe every American newborn has a load!

Your goal is to keep you child's immune system functioning well. Your child's health will be great if you keep this in mind as you are now in control of what your child eats, drinks, and puts on or near his body as far as chemicals.

Best wishes....and happy motherhood!

lp

Thanks everyone!!!

I am glad that I gave people hope. I have to write that I also did a strict detox program with Dr. H before pregnancy, and got my metal load down significantly.

I also give my daughter an organic formula called "Babys only" which is organic and I put a pro biotic in her formula once a day.

As far as the shots, I haven't started yet and I did find a local doc willing to space them out.

I know that this is a tricky disease, and I will continue to monitor her, but so far I got the thumbs up from Dr. J which is wonderful news.

Congrats on your baby girl! What great news!

And, of course, welcome to the land of tiredness and broken up sleep. lol

My wife and I have spaced out the vaccinations for our son (now 1) and the pediatrician was very agreeable to that so I am glad you were able to do this also.

Enjoy being a mom!
