Posting this for a friend who seeks advice from others who may have dealt with Fed BC/BS..
She was dx'd with ALS which turned out to be Lyme. Her doc wants her on IV tx...she has severe speech issues in addition to all the usual neuro lyme stuff.
Insurance will cover only 2 weeks. Can she appeal it and if so, does anyone else have experience with this company. They called the IV treatment "experimental".
She would appreciare any advice.
Thx, nan

Lucky you! Did you have to appeal?

Maybe she could get free Rocephin from the company that makes it?? Many ins co's will only authorize 4 wks. Never heard of just 2 wks.
I would certainly try an appeal.

I do not have experience with this co., however did appeal with my federal plan and won. Was very time consuming. I believe what helped me was getting the name of the CEO and writing an appeal letter directly to him.

Seems like most people who get extended treatment paid for by an insurance company have had to appeal.
It helps a great deal to search the archives for this type of info. Go towards the top of the page under "Post a Poll" and click on search. It's self explanatory.
