I am a new member and have been surprised by many of the posted messages and responses.
Why is there such a controversy about Lyme? Isn't there enough medical evidence that address Lyme disease?
Is treatment difficult to monitor?

Diagnosis, treatment and even the existence of the illness is controversial. If you want a full understanding read the book "Cure Unknown" by Pam Weintraub.

It is controversial due to greed and ego. Long story but there have been no GOOD studies to prove that long term antibiotics do not work. There is way more evidence showing that this bacteria will survive for years under treatment and also evidence that most people do get better on long term treatment.
They also did not consider co-infections during some of their poorly run studies. Did they reall think ticks carry one type of bacteria, parasite or virus? LOL!!!!!!

The show was taped by a girl on LymeNet and she put it on-line for all of us to be able to view it. You will learn a lot about the medical controversy surrounding lyme disease and why it is so hard to find a doctor who knows how to cure a person of lyme disease.

Yep. Bacteria is not easily cultured in vitro. Western blots for it are not reliable. Early studies which are the basis of current IDSA guidelienes are of very bad quality.
Hundreds of more recent studies (just search pubmed) documenting persistence and resistance of Borellia , but there is no effective treatment found .

Thanks TF for posting the link to the show. They did a great job. I cry every time I see poor Dr. Jones. They have put him through so much and he has done so much good. So many kids have their life back because of him.
